A little before 11 o'clock this morning a train derailed and ran into a house just north of downtown San Antonio. Eighteen container cars carrying recycled paper and auto parts ran off the tracks. The address of the home is 201 Hickman. A neighboring home was slightly damaged.
The man who lives in the home was outside working on his car and witnessed the train skidding down the tracks. He tells News 4 he feels lucky to be alive.
San Antonio City Councilman Roger Flores tells News 4 that no hazardous materials were released and no one was injured inside the home. It was empty at the time of the crash.
A few homes were evacuated around the scene of the accident, but police are now letting everyone return to their home.
