Album: Food & Liquor
Song: American Terrorist

[Lupe Fiasco]
Close your mind
close your eyes
see with your heart
how do you forgive the murderer of your father?
the ink of a scholar is worth a thousand times more than the blood of a martyr

[Lupe Fiasco]
We came through the storm
Nooses on our necks and a smallpox blanket to keep us warm
On a 747 on the pentagon lawn
Wake up the alarm clock is connected to a bomb
Anthrax lab on a west Virginia farm
Shorty aint learned to walk already heavily armed
Civilians and little children is especially harmed
Camoflouged Torahs, Bibles and glorious Qurans
The books that take you to heaven and let you meet the Lord there
Have become misinterpreted, reasons for warfare
We read 'em with blind eyes I guarantee you there's more there
The rich must be blind because they didnt see the poor there
Need to open up a park, just closed 10 schools
we dont need 'em
can you please call the fire department they're down here marchin for freedom
burn down ATV's, turn their TV's on to teach 'em and Move!

[Hook: Matthew Santos]
The more money that they make the more money that they make
The better and better they live
Whatever they wanna take whatever they wanna take
Whatever whatever it is
The more that you wanna learn the more that you try to learn
The better and better it gets
American Terrorist!

[Lupe Fiasco]
Now the poor klu klux man see that we're all brothers
Not because things are the same becuase we lack the same color
And thats green, now that's mean
cant burn his cross cause he cant afford the gasoline
Now if a muslim woman strapped with a bomb on a bus
With the seconds running give you the jitters?
Just imagine a American-based christian orginization
Planning to poison water supplies to bring the second-coming quicker
Nigga they aint livin properly
Break 'em off a little democracy
Turn their whole culture to a mockery
Give 'em coca-cola for their property
Give 'em gum, give 'em guns, get 'em young, give 'em fun
If they aint givin it up, then they aint gettin none
And dont giv 'em all naw ,man, just give 'em some
Its the paper, some of these cops must be Al-Qaeda nigga uh

[Hook: Matthew Santos]
The more money that they make the more money that they make
The better and better they live
Whatever they wanna take whatever they wanna take
Whatever whatever it is
The more that you wanna learn the more that you try to learn
The better and better it gets
American Terrorist!

[Lupe Fiasco]
It's like
Don't give the black man food, give red man liquor
Red man fool, black man nigga
Give yellow man tool, make him railroad builder
Also give him pan, make him pull gold from river
Give black man crack, glocks and things
Give red man craps, slot machines
Now bring it back, bring it back, bring it back, bring it back
Don't give the black man food, give they red man liquor
Red man fool, black man nigga
Give yellow man tool, make him railroad builder
Also give him pan, make him pull gold from river
Give black man crack, glocks and things
Give red man craps, slot machines

I don't know, I think that's a part of it, but it's also a social commentary on the world right now, in general. But, I could juwst be avoiding the obvious.

I think analyzing hip hop song lyrics is fucking stupid. Let me see.....the "man" is putting me down, check..............the world is messed up, check.........guns and liquor, check.............and I'm spent.

rap is about money and bitches as much as country is about dead dogs and wives leaving you.

There's much better music out there to find if you're not blinded by your generalizations.

That still doesn't keep me from laughing at your jokes though.

:lol

To be totally honest with you, I love rap music. Although long are the days since the greatest rap group to walk the planet released anything of any substance, Wu-Tang, I still like a lot of the new stuff coming out. I just don't believe in analyzing the stuff...........plus I don't like the guy that started this thread.

Nah, I know.

I agree with your view on the crap that's coming out nowadays. That's why I loathe MTV, 98.5 or the "new" 106.7. Same shit. Over and over.

Not a rap song, but I have found the worst song ever produced, sung, and recorded. The london bridge song.

That thing makes me want to rip out my eyelashes one by one.

I don't feel sorry for the rest of the Black Eyed Peas. They brought it on themselves when they brought in a "Gwen Stefani" clone. Did they think she wouldn't leave like the real Gwen did to No Doubt. I read an interview with the group, in URB i think, they were reminded about a quote that they said that they'd never sell out to the mainstream media. One of the band member replied with, "we aren't selling out, we're selling out stadiums." :rolleyes They deserve all the flack they get with the shit they put out now. I'm all for success, but don't be fake and try to be underground and "down" with the hip hop community, when all you wanted was to be on TRL.

They started selling out to anyone and everyone after their FIRST song(on radio/tv).

lupe is not a typical rapper, his wordplay and meanings are much much more deeper than any rapper you would see on MTV.

His lyrics are the most deepest thing in the rap game today.

I thought country was about dead wives and dogs leaving you?

Maybe that's western.

Anyway, I'm not a hip hopper, but the lyrics to this song woudl stand up as thoughtful and thought-provoking no matter what genre, whether you agreed with them or not.
