View Full Version : Game 7 tonight

Jimcs50
10-19-2006, 07:11 AM
St Louis will be playing in their 14th Game 7, which breaks the record in all of sports. :smokin

The Cards are going against the Mets' Oliver Perez, who has the worst winning percentage(3-13) of any pitcher to ever start a playoff game, and they are putting Jeff Suppan on the mound who has started more playoff games than any pitcher ever, in a 3 year span.

Good stuff.

Go Cardinals!!!

johngateswhiteley

...yeah, the odds are in the cardinals favor. but i'll stick with my original prediction of the Mets in 7. i think the Mets Offense (Beltran and Delgado) light up Suppan and the Mets win.

I agree. They played an elimination game last night, the Cards did not. Lets see what both teams look like when their proverbial "back is to the wall". Tonight will be awesome.

Good luck to both teams.

Scooter: yes, you are very right
dont press your luck, especially with how solid their BP is
me: He's going to give up a HR and I will be angry.
Scooter: i hate both these teams so much
me: Here we go....good job, Willie.
Scooter: wow, Isiah is such a dipshit
me: NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Scooter: and the house of cards tumbles

me: Oliver needs to name his firstborn Endy.
Scooter: if he comes back out, willie randolph needs his head examined
me: And his second Endi.
And his third Endee.
Scooter: that was nasty'
cards fans everywhere screamed in agony
me: Even better....Cliff Floyd doesn't bring that back.

He so deserves a win.

Of course from what im reading, if it wasn't for Endy Chavez, it would 3-1 Cardinals.

Sometimes after reading or seeing a play like Endy made, it makes you wonder if its your time to go ya know, just makes you wonder if fate just plays a huge role in it being not your time to go back to the series.

I wouldn't go that far. Losing the WS in '04 sucked pretty badly after a 7 game NLCS. It'd be nice to win it this time.

Don't get freaking greedy? Wanting them to win the championship is greedy? Yeah, it's nice that they made it here after almost choking it away in the regular season, and the injuries. But I don't think wanting them to win it all is greedy.

Congrats to your Cards TPark and other Cards fans here. I can't believe the Mets blew it after coming back to tie the series. Another game 7 heartbreaker for me I guess (following the Spurs). Oh well, there's always next year as they say. Good luck against the Tigers, they look tough. :depressed

Thank you for your class budkin, it will go down, even though no one wants to say it, as one of the best league championship series of all time.

Prob one of the best game 7s in a very very long time.

WOw, im more happy about this Pennant, than 04, because, this team, and Ive beat this horse to death. This team was left for absolute DEAD in the first round. THey have done nothing but leave 100% on the freakin field.

Its not hard at ALL to root for this team in the postseason, this team is soooo freakin cardiac its not even CLOSE.

This game tonight was what playoff baseball is ALL ABOUT!

I mean the drama, the elation after Molina's HR, the UNREAL ELATION after Wainwright TOTALLY froze Beltran.

Adversity? The Cardinals laugh at adversity after this year.

What I mean is King, I understand where your coming from, but, this season, doesnt hinge on the World Series now.

I mean, after THIS SEASONNN, COME ON, the injuries, the losing streaks, the setbacks, the bad FA pickups. ALL OF IT!!

I guess im easy to please, but whatever happens in the WS happens
WIN or Lose.

Doesntmatter.

I've said that to myself before, that I'm happy for my team to just get this far, but losing at the highest level always hurts the worst, because it's so hard to get that far and there are no guarantees about getting back again.

T Park
10-20-2006, 02:42 PM
The Mets will be back next year.

They have too good of a lineup, and too good of a rotation, and Im sure they will go out and buy more high powered names in the offseason like they always do, so the Mets will be fine, don't fret.

The Cardinals on the other hand, have ALOT of players to pay, and not a whole hell of alot of money to use.

With Edmonds and Isringhausen bowing out stage left, that's $20 million to play with.

They must resist the urge to overpay Mark Mulder. If he bolts, he bolts.

T Park
10-20-2006, 05:10 PM
Id give Mulder an incentive laden contract. If he gets more, adios.

Marquis is GONE, so thats 6 million right there. I know I know, arbitration SUCKS.

So, hopefully the Cards make a legit but safe run at a Jason Schmidt.

Resign Weaver and Suppan.

Keep Wainwright as the closer.

Sign Carp to an extension.

Then if theres time, make a run at Carlos Lee or Soriano :)
