I am just curious since he has had such an extensive career. My favorites would be Road to Perdition, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan and Big, since it's a classic. Road to Perdition is probably tops for me.

I also like Road to Perdition a great deal, but would have to give the nod to Forrest Gump. Big really propelled his career and is a classic.

Anyone said Apollo 13, pretty damn good movie...I also loved him in A League of Their Own and I'm always up for The Burbs when it's on HBO...and as mentioned the Money Pit is also funny, as is Dragnet, him and Dan Akroyd was pretty funny..

That's how good Tom Hanks is, even his crap B movies are badass..

Yeah I think Big has to be really high up there, it's probably his best comedy, I don't know if Forest Gump was a comedy but it was pretty funny, and A League Of Their Own was as well...

Easily Forrest Gump, one of the best movies of all-time. It had it all, perfect mixture between drama and comedy. What a great year for movies, I think that Pulp Fiction and Shawshank came out that same year.

As far as a straight comedy, I would pick The 'Burbs, and I also like Bonfire of the Vanities quite a bit. I haven't ever seen A League of Their Own and I need to, it looks pretty funny.

I guess I am not a really big tom hanks fan cause I don't think any are that of the movies he made are that great. They are good but probably not even in my top 100 movies. I guess I would have to say Saving Private Ryan or Big are my favorite. I just recently watched Joe versus Volcano and it was 1 of those movies that was so bad it pissed me off I spent 1hr and 1/2 watching it. Forrest Gump and Castway were good and Philadelphia besides the great acting was really boring maybe I was to young when I watched it.

fair enough. a poor accented tom hanks with the guy from dirty dancing havana nights as a cast in an ill advised movie versus a complex under rated film such as a.i. is an opinion i would share time and time again. the fucking terminal should have been aborted before ever being created.

edited:in a rush put cruise instead of hanks. not even tom cruise would have been in such a horrible flick.

:lol :lol sure, but I never gave any in the first place. I was offering my opinion that the terminal is possibly the most horrible movie hanks has ever participated in and made a comment about spielberg not doing anything good in some time, i thought a.i. deserved a mention. but, whatever. i guess a guy living in a airport along with poor casting makes for great movie fare for the general public.

Tom Cruise was in the Terminal? Didn't notice him. And I have no idea who you are referring to that is in Dirty Dancing, I try not to watch those types of movies. You know, ones about dancing.

A.I. was complete garbage, one of the biggest disappointments I've ever seen in the theater. I looked forward to that piece of shit for months, it was so fucking lame I couldn't believe it. Probably the closest I've ever come to walking out of a movie before it was over.

edit: BTW, don't get me wrong about The Terminal, I'm not really a big fan of it because it about put me to sleep, but I'd watch the terminal repeatedly before you catch me watching that piece of shit A.I., it's that bad.

DirkAB
10-26-2006, 03:01 PM
A.I. was worse than Eyes Wide Shut, and that is saying a lot. At least with Eyes Wide Shut you get to see lots of naked women.

see edit posted before this. also, didn't necessarily need to know his background to realize what a b or c actor he was nonetheless.

as for a.i. being garbage, well that almost as bold as some of the people saying that the FUCKING TERMINAL is their fucking favorite tom hanks movie. whatever, everybody gots their own opinions. those just suck is all. that movie fucking blew balls, but I couldn't say "was extremely dissapointed" like you did, since my expectations were never to high to begin with.

Why laugh? That's a very underrated movie. Very funny and well acted. Also a ton of funny lines. "It's not that I can't help these people. It's just I don't want to."

Beth Wexler: You mean you spent that time talking to me and being nice so that you could go to bed with me?

Lawrence Bourne III: Well, yes. I mean..I think I've put in the hours, don't you?

My top 5:

Forrest Gump
Catch Me If You Can
Volunteers
Joe vs the Volcano
SPR

Big, The Money Pit, and Splash are also decent.
