Kinky is killing any chance for real candidates, Chris Bell or Grandma to gain momentum on disgruntled moderate voters in Texas and his continued candidacy is playing right into Rick Perry and Republican hands....

Bell Goes 3 for 3 in Post-Debate Polls
Tue Oct 24, 2006 at 14:51:32 PM CDT

Just as early voting begins, the new SurveyUSA poll is coming out, and it confirms the two other post-debate polls: Chris Bell is the only candidate to emerge from the pack of challengers to have any chance of beating Perry.

36% - Rick Perry
26% - Chris Bell
19% - Carole Strayhorn
16% - Richard Friedman

Chris Bell is also the only candidate with consistent upward momentum (Strayhorn and Perry wobble up and down and Kinky has a consistent downward trajectory).

Hey dan, I thought you were voting for Kinky. You
always seemed to like him. What happened?

Agreed, Kinky has had his fun.

How many Kinky voters would switch to Perry? Probably very few. (Actually how many Kinkers supporters would even vote if Kinky dropped out)

So the question will be will Kinky's supporters go to Bell, to cause Strayhorn to quit, or will they also go enough to Stayhorn to keep her in the race, and fatally split the non-Perry voters.

Kinky's main supporters are disgruntled semi-informed voter that I doubt would go for Perry if Kinky dropped. At this point, I'd rather have Grandma than Perry.

Kinky gave it a shot, but when given a forum, he didn't set himself apart from the rest of the candidates in the only debate or out on the road campaigning. Now, its time for him to face reality and give it up, for the good of the State, and our roads.

I personally think the governor should be from Texas.

I'm George W Bush and I aprove this message. :tu

I don't get into politics much but I'll give my opinion for what it's worth.

Perry became Governor by default, and from what I can tell hasn't exactly done a great job.

As much as I like certain ideas brough forth by guys like Kinky (Casinos) (Well I don't love the idea but I'd certainly consider it after some studies were done and some numbers were looked at), but the problem becomes that you don't want to normal politician but at the same time you don't want someone that is just so far out there, I think Kinky is just a little too far out there and like it or not has insulted quite a few people with some of his remarks, respect and working with people is an important part of being Governor.

I liked Grandma until I saw her on live television, you realize she isn't as eloquent as she seems in pre-taped commercials, and her entire appearance at the debate was retoric or campaign cliches, I'm one though grandma, we're gonna shake things up, etc... Not only that but we have the largest US/Mexico border and Grandma doesn't even know the President of Mexico's name...

What I've written so far should give you some idea of why I am leaning torwards Bell...

One great thing about the Governor of Texas. Not
much power, except power of persuasion. The Lt.
Governor is the big dog.

Are you all a bunch of idiots? Saying I should get out of the governor's race goes against all that is America and democracy. I'm not taking ANY votes from anybody because each vote belongs to the voters and NOT to a particular party.

I think its already too late. Most of the ballots will be cast via early voting, so this is going to screw that up. He was horrible in the debate, which was sad to me but maybe smoe of his ideas can take off.

Id love for Kinky's views on Biodiesel and other means to bring it to the forefront, along with keeping the toll roads away will spin off, but I doubt it.

Politicians talk the big game when it comes to alternative fuels, and they bhave great oppurtunities here in Biodiesel and other fuels, they don't propose legislation to help make it cheaper to produce, or help get it into more gas stations.

Keep in the race kinky, keep the socialists out.

socialists like to start regulating how much money i should give to the government along with initiating a state income tax. No thanks.

kinky's main supporters just happen to be an age group that doesn't vote in huge numbers and as someone has said before are ill-informed of the issues. with that being said, i think that the actual numbers he pulls will be greater than what these polls are showing.

What I learned after moving FROM Texas: With State income taxes; come LOCAL income taxes:

My "Township" and School District here in PA ALSO have income taxes, and a form to fill out. That's right, FOUR income tax forms. $$$$ aside; it's a pain in the ass.

Yeah the no state income tax is one of the bigger pluses of texas.

They repeal it, I would seriously consider moving to Florida.

Afraid to tell us who you voted for?

Chris Bell

I would like to thank my good friend NBADan for stating so eloquently what many of us believe. Kinky Friedman is a novelty act, and can we afford to have our great state run by someone like that? My campaign has extended an invitation to Mr. Friedman to participate in my administration if he would step down ... I was thinking Chief Cigar Inspector ... but, sadly, he has declined.

As to the varying opinions here, they are a reflection of the great democracy that we all enjoy. I will point out that there is one candidate, and one candidate only, that Goodhair Perry takes aim at with his misleading, mudslinging commericials, and that is Chris Bell. Why attack me if he does not see the possibility of his demise in my campaign?

There is still plenty of time. Send a message to the nation and join the revolution! Vote for me, Chris Bell, for Governor of the great state of Texas. Together we can lead Texas to the future it deserves.

Like it or not, Kinky has become the 2006 version of Ross Perot in state politics. He argues that he hates politics, hates the status-quo, but when it comes time to set his ego aside and do what is right for Texas, Kinky just cares about himself and his next novel.

Oh Please, people voting for Kinky probably would either have stayed home or voted Republican on election day.

You don't hear The Hair whining about Grandma.

Bell will do good in the cities and border region where the Republican fence has motivated liberals not intimidated by threats of arrest, but rural TX is 'abuse-me' red.
