View Full Version : Spurs and the *new* no travelling enforcement

"Referees have been told to target three types of traveling:
changing one's pivot feet;
faking with one foot, then moving the other direction before the ball touches the court;
and shooting off the wrong foot after a bunny hop. "

Remains to be seen if Sternfish and the NBA overlords will see to it that any of this gets enforced. But if it's enforced, any Spurs need to adjust? None that i can think of.

"The league also wants to eliminate a lot of the jostling that goes on between players when they line up along the key for free throws."

Expect a lot of traveling calls

- and a lot of calls on moving screens. Yes, Brad Miller, I am talking to you. :lol

If this comes into effect, and thats a big if, the game is going to slow down to a crawl :lol most superstar guards travel their asses off. TP would be in deep shit for example, and Manu not too far behind.

if Karl Malone sees this (changing pivot feet) he will laugh his a** off, toasting the new NBA with his diamond-studded wine glasses

horry tends to get whistled a few times a season for changing pivot feet before putting the ball down on the court

They want scoring to go up, and fluidity of the game to increase, but they change the rules to slow the game down more?

are other american sports changing their rules as often as the NBA does? I'd prefer consistency, how are you supposed to string together championships if the rules change every year??

Have the Mavs started crying yet?

Some of Manu's forays to the hoop include this: faking with one foot, then moving the other direction before the ball touches the court;

NO?

For example the one in the 03 playoffs on Shaq? Some of the drives against the Suns maybe? He does this every once in a while......Maybe moreso in his first two years in the league....

I second that. I think Manu will get lots of these kinds of whistles.

If that no-bunny-hop rule was in effect last year, D Wade scores about half as much and Dallas wins. Dude does that a lot.

This rule will probably hurt parker the most.

I can't really remember him doing it THAT much this past season. It just happens that some of his best plays included his 2 1/2 step moves. Then again sometimes his long two steps look like a travel in and of themselves. I think he will adjust regardless.

The refs will call it tight for a couple of games, and then the calls will disappear.

Don't underestimate Stern when he puts his mind to something. :cooldevil

I don't think they miss as many travelling calls as some people seem to think, and the ones they miss I think they'll continue to miss. Regardless, the players will adjust pretty quckly to whatever changes.

If it was enforced, Tony and Manu would get called for it in every game.

Are these realy changes in rules?

No, I think they are just trying to re-enforce existing rules.

Have the Mavs started crying yet?

No, but that rediculous fadeaway OFF THE WRONG FOOT AFTER THE ALLOWED 2 STEPS (effictively making it the third step) the Steve Nash taught Dirk will be going away IF they enforce it. Which WONT happen because that would pi$$ off the real commisioner of the NBA (Mark Cuban). So that way it will be their dream PHX/DAL Western conference Finals :bang

That's an interesting statement considering a bunny hop has nothing to do with basketball.

- and a lot of calls on moving screens. Yes, Brad Miller, I am talking to you. :lolBullhockey. The NBA's encouragement of the moving screen is what precipitated the Small Ball revolution. Without the moving screen the Mavs are back where they belong.
