Firefox 2 is now available!!!

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

You will love the spell check function!

:elephant:elephant:elephant

P.S. Upgrading is a breeze. Download from the link above and install, it will install itself over the old version keeping all favorites, passwords and add-ons.

Some add ons are not available yet for V2 but it will keep checking for them and install them when they are.

Very nice job Mozilla!

Not for me, maybe you have some M$ viru$ware getting in the way. Try this link:

http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-2.0&os=win&lang=en-US

What I loved was that while it took IE 7 forever to update IE 6, FF 2.0 took only a few seconds. And FF 2.0 > FF 1.5 >>>>>>>>>>>> IE 7.

just installed it, haven't yet gone over the changes, anybody know what they are exactly, it looks the same.I think most of the best stuff is quite subtle.

It looks like the famous memory leak is gone

On my notebook it runs even a little faster than before

Session saver is now built in

you can enable/disable add ons without uninstalling them

That's what I've seen so far

But by far the best option is the spell checker!!! Look at that first

and yes SB we have spell checkers in Slovenia, there's one built in in the new firefox :)

If the memory leak is gone, I don't care about anything else. Its not a memory leak. Firefox keeps a cache of the pages you've been to so that it can display them faster. There are options to make the cache smaller.

It is pretty slick.

And it was sheer marketing genius to release 2.0 one week after IE 7's semi-disasterous rollout.

Weird!

Hope this helps: http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/fflostbkmk.html I tried this but it only showed 1 profile and it's not the 1 I was using previously. I'm not very knowledgeable about this kind of stuff. I just want to go back to the way it was before.

Naw, there was definitely a glitch. I would be browsing someplace like ebay, going thru a search results page, and when I hit the back arrow, nothing would happen. When I right clicked on it, there were multiple indications of the same web page. I would actually have to right click, and select the page way down on the list to go back one page.

The new one is nice. I just wish they would put in a BT client like Opera has.

I LOVE the spellcheck function so far.

I upped from 1.5.0.4 to 2RC3, it wouldn't browse, it would fast-fill as I type, so it picked up 1.5's history, but then it would not bring up any pages.
re-installed 1.5 over it.

installed 2.0 release, exactly the same problem. re-installed 1.5 over it.

Every upgrade of FF has gone perfectly, but 2RC3 and 2.0 fail.

When they were failing, zonealarm showed no blocking of ff

Wow, I just found a new feature that I love.

It allows you to restore a session if the browser dies unexpectedly. It just went down but as soon as I clicked on the icon again it gave me the option to open up my last session just as it was before the crash. Verrrrrrrrrrrrry cool.

Hey the one feature I love is that, if you have to use reading glasses,
just press "Ctrl" and then "+" as many times as you need, the
whole screen enlarges. To decrease letter size same thing except
the "-".

I love the browser. Been using it for some time.

You should check out the extensions more often.

Session saver has been around since 1.0. or 1.5. but it's been around long enough I don't remember not having it.
I use it when turning off my pc and still want to look at the pages i have in my tabs. When I restart ff it reloads what i was previously viewing...granted I did not close my session.

If you want you could download the IE tab extension, it's a little IE tab you click and it will allow you to view the page in IE format

Opera already had that, and yes, it IS nice to not have to go back and open tabs for all of the windows you had open.

Every time I read about a new Firefox release I see a lot of people "discovering" cool functionalities that have been available in Opera for ages. This kind of reaction shows that Opera has a huge marketing deficit.

Saludos.

Saludos.I was an Opera user, but just too many pages were not working correctly in that browser. Firefox still has issues from time to time with Java scripts, but Opera had problems most of the time.

So I switched over to FF (where I use the IE Tab for the few pages that only work in IE). FF came of age and the difference to Opera is so small while the reliability is much greater so I never thought of switching back.

But I agree that Opera's approach was probably the most innovative, they just came a little short.

Surprisingly enough, I don't use much weather software. It all sucks.

Oh, I just thought this was really neat, its got a radar where you move the arrow over it and it shows, i'm assuming a live or updated radar screen and todays current, expected high, tommarow and tommarow night's expected highs and lows.

I have been using Firefox for a while now, but I am not really into extensions at all...I may have downloaded one or two total. This week I decided to try out Opera, and I must say I rarely use Firefox anymore. Out-of-the-box, Opera works better for me...more control over tabs, custom search engines, status bar in the address field...just little things. And it seems more responsive too. However, I am not a super-surfer, so I don't know if Firefox has some of these features as extensions. I also installed FF2.0 to check it out, but I still prefer Opera.

Opera is also going to ship on the Wii, so you might want to try it if you intend to get one.
