saw him 1985 at Freeman with Reba and Alabama.....he was on stage for 2 hrs.....all three acts were at at least 2 hours.

I also saw him at Fiesta Texas and he was noticeably slowing down...he wasn't that young....he played a little over an hour.

He is one of the early wave of original Southern Rockers along with Allman Bros. Lynyrd Skynyrd Marshall Tucker, etc. One of the few of that genre that haven't had any tragic accidents and such happen to him to end his career.

I saw him once at the Rodeo...he got my second cousin's husband (Fiddlin' Frenchie Burke) up on stage to play a few songs with him. It was awesome.
