According to Hoopshype.
This kid is very young and is said to have a lot of potential. http://www.draftexpress.com/viewprofile.php?p=256
He's a unrestricted FA this summer. A good choice to be an eventual Bowen replacement?

Seems pretty premature to give up the guy before he's even 20 years old. I wonder what happened.

Corey Magette, Shaun Livingston, Catino Mobley and the Luxury Tax.

Whoa. He was the #12 pick in 2005. He's only 19 and I think he had some good games in summer league. Even if he hasn't shown much yet, this is really stupid.
I wonder if he's indicated he will be going back to Europe after this year.

Although it says that the Clipps are going to try & sign him next year at a cheaper price, I would definitly hope the Spurs look at this kid next summer.

It was a pretty dumb pick at the time. Mike Dunleavy had some sort of man love for him and promised Yaro that they'd pick him if he entered the draft.
What's even dumber is that they didn't let him mature in Europe. He could have played for CSKA Moscow for 4-5 years and would have been NBA ready. Now that they've stunted his growth, he might bust out of the league.

Not necessarily. Yeah, they picked him way too high, but he won't be 20 until the start of next season. The problem is, he's making 2.7 million because he was the 12th pick. I can see us giving him a Jackie BUtler like contract and see how he develops. THe Clippers are not picking up the option because of the Kaman, Cassel, Mobley and Thomas contracts that they handed out and the fact that Shaun Livingston will need an extension soon. They'll bust the luxury tax and can't afford to take another gamble. With Eric WIlliams going off the Books, I think the Spurs can take that gamble.

Actually, they might just assume no one is going to sign Korolev for more than the $2.7 million or whatever they can match next season.

He's unrestricted. They can't match.
