There are few things I care about less than music award ceremonies, but Kayne West made such a jackass out of himself (http://music.monstersandcritics.com/news/article_1217824.php/Kanye_West_throws_a_fit_after_losing_at_MTV_Europe _Awards) that I just couldn't ignore it:

Despite being named Best Hip Hop artist, rapper Kanye West still felt robbed at the MTV Europe Music Awards and threw a fit so that everyone knew it. West was upset that he didn’t pick up a trophy for Best Video for ‘Touch the Sky,” and felt the need to take the stage as the award was being given to Justice and Simian for “We Are Your Friends.”

West launched a speech (filled with colorful language) at the crowd about how the award should have been given to him due to his video costing “a million dollars,” staring Pamela Anderson, and featuring the rapper jumping canyons. West further stated his not wining made the award show (where fans pick the winners) lose all “credibility."
What an egomaniac! If only he would have screamed "MTV doesn't care about black people," when he left the stage, it would have been absolutely perfect!

^The above comment was designed to refute your contention that the Kanye West story packed the same political punch as Haggard's sex/drug scandal by employing an exaggerated lament. You see, Haggard has acually been to the White House (along with many other religious leaders) to advise President Bush, where as Kanye West made a remark on a Katrina relief TV show.
