What did i just tell you
he almost killed himself on that play

Should have gotten 7 there - but good to see a lead in the 1st for a change.

They need to sub for the tbs commentator - he's done lost his voice just like the 2nd half of last week

i thought his raspy voice sounded familiar

This game is turning nasty on the hitting... good stuff. OSU is too jacked up and is making stupid penalties.

Are the 'Horns tbs's new favorite team? They play on tbs almost as much as the Braves... :lol

I think its a contract deal thing.
TBS games suck so much asshole its amazing. They don't even show you the down and yards to go

BeerIsGood!

If it has to be on Turner - I wish it was on TNT. I have HD on TNT, but not TBS. They should have gotten the touchdown there - need to get the stop before half.

Running game sucked hardcore. The shocking fact that they gave the ball to Melton on 1st and goal finally was only outweighed by the shock when he failed three times to get that touchdown. Sad. I doubt he'll ever see decent RB PT for the rest of the season. Bust. Good win though, secondary forced more turnovers.

Melton should be moved to DE right away so he can be of use there next year. He wants to run like Barry Sanders - and he's 270 lbs.

Greg Davis actually called a decent game - with the exception of the option calls. You can tell McCoy isn't comfortable running it and he doesn't know when to keep and when to pitch - so scratch it from the game plan. They don't need it in there anyway.

The defense played with fire, probably because they had been getting slapped in the face by the likes of Texas fucking Tech and Baylor. That should make anyone want to go ballistic and smoke someone - and they finally did.

Good win - McCoy is the man.

I agree, Melton is a bust at RB no doubt about it. I agree about GD too, i was surprised. Would have liked to see more up the gut I or Ace formation runs, and less shotgun runs, but still. Our running game as a whole just totally totally blew. Jamaal Charles, blew. Selvin Young was a total non factor. WTF?

BeerIsGood!
11-04-2006, 10:59 PM
I don't know if they didn't emphasize the run because they felt they weren't running well or because McCoy was going nuts on the OSU secondary. Either way they should do better than tonight. I like the use of Finley in the passing game, there isn't a LB in the country that's going to cover him down the field. I agree with you about Selvin. He hardly played at all, and I wonder why?

I am with you on that....great to see him more involved. He is going to be a stud.

I'm guessing that he got hurt. He got some carries early, then didn't play after that 11 yard run when he landed in a nose dive. I love Henry Melton, but he was disappointing. That being said, he had the touchdown on second down, he got the ball across the plane before the whistle. Ogbonnaya looked a lot better.

Ogbonnaya was also playing against lesser opponents i think. I woke up this morning and the first thing I thought was "I can't believe Melton behind our Offensive Line was stopped for a first and goal when he only had 5 yards to a TD"

That was just so flat out sad. DMN said last week that Chizik likes Melton at DE but the change is definitely "not permanent" but that he has great explosion off the line of scrimmage, so their keeping the options open.

Finley IS the shiiiit, i dont see why we dont use him in Bball too, not like UT has a bunch of hardcore starters on their team. They should pass it to him more to open shit up for that one guy, i forgot his name, wtf is he? The guy that usually catches alot of passes and some touchdowns? Oh yeah, Sweed. Non factor as well. Were they doubling him or what? He blew his opportunities but Colt also seemed to shy away from passing to him.

It was very very welcomed to see Pittman finally get some fast catch action. But he is on schedule for the worse season of his career though, at least statistically. Colt seemed to not even know his location on the field for the first 6 games or so. Nate Jones was pretty good, for a youngin.

Ryan Palmer put on a good show as well.

Yeah, I meant better than Melton. Melton just looks too slow to get carries outside of short yardage, which still makes him valuable, unless he gets stopped 3 times and fumbles on the goal line. Ogbonnaya ran with toughness, and showed some good speed on a 26 yard run.

I thought our D played very well, with the exception of Lacey, who gifted each of those TDs to the left side.

Bobby just plain was off. He way overthrew 2 sure TDs, and was throwing high all night.

The penalties by our O were the main downfall. We had only 4 flags a game all year; we had 5 proceedure penalties in the 1st qtr.

I was very happy with our D and very disapp in our O. Zero TDs by the O was the story of the game.

I was still impressed with Reid though. He is going to only get better.

We definitely caught Reid on an off night, his passes were nastier than OU's QB.

Yeah, if you figure the only thing we lose next year is WR Woods, Reid will only be a Jr and our 3 TBs will be Sr/Jr/Soph

I can't understand why OSU didn't let him run more. From the hilite real I saw, he looks every bit as elusive as Vince Young was. Kind of scares me next year with him at the helm AND playing in Stillwater.

We ran him crazy during the atm game. We had saved his running until that game, for the most part. Gundora turned him loose in the atm game and he got a concussion. He really hasn't had any plays drawn up for him the past 2 games. I don't know if it is cautious or maybe there is more there than we know, but, yeah, we wished he ran more, too. His 50 yard scramble against Neb was the turning point.

Looks like the making of a very good team in Stillwater. Gundy has done a great job taking over where Miles left the team. I was impressed with the conditioning of the defense.

Yeah, good times. We have had a Top 25 recruiting class every year with the 1 exception being 2005, when it was 41st. Of course, it is not top 5 yearly like UT, but let's be honest we aren't at the level of competing with UT/uo, we are compeing with atm and tek. Even after Goodson was let go, OSU had a better class, numerically of course, than every team not UT/uo. This year's class will be small, and very targeted.

Our facilities are 2nd to none, and still getting better. We are nationally ranked and compete for Titles yearly in many sports. We have more Titles in all of sports han any other B12 school (winning 2 more last year). We have won a Title in just about every conceivable sport we compete in, except football. not saying we will ever get one, but this program can easily become akin to a Va Tech, being of major import yearly. When you get to that point, anything is possible. We have an Alum coach who isn't going anywhere. He is bringing back guys he played with and of his era (All Americans Sanders, Thomas, O'Neal, Moore have all made locker room pep talks). The days of us being afraid of bigger, more traditional teams is gone. Used to be the day that uo and Neb had a 14 point edge on a team the moment they walked on the field because of the intimidation factor; not anymore. We had 1 win in 28 years vs uo. Since then we have 5 of the past 11 during the years they played for 3 BCS Titles (if not for OSU they would have played for at least 2 more). We had not beaten Neb since 1962. Now we have won 2 of the last 3. We had not beaten atm since 1988. Now we have won 2 of the past 5. UT is the one team we haven't beaten (since 1997), and even them we have had down at the half several times before monumental collaspes. Playing in the toughest division in football certainly doesn't help I might add.

While OSU oesn't always fully sell out home games, we are a tremendous road draw. We travel very well wherever we go, and thus are a vauled commodity to Bowl people. To aid in recruiting, we yearly travel to a road game in hot recruiting areas for us (Houston, SMU, Rice, Tulsa). Also, many big programs won't do home-at-homes with small schools. They sign the small schools to only come there. OSU takes a diff approach. They have been doing many 2-for-1s, and going to play at the small school or at the very least a neutral site. The Ark State game was played at a neutral site (War Memorial in Little Rock), OSU sold half the stadium. Ark State signed a 2-for-1. We played Florida Atl at Dolphins' Stadium and got a 2-for-1 with them. We played La Tech at the Independence Bowl in a 2-or-1. Believe it or not, I am pretty sure we got Houston in a 2-for-1. We got Rice in a 2-for-1, but they are trying to get out of it now.

We don't have 40k bandwagon, nonalum type fans like our evil red headed step sister to the south, but we have a very hard core passionate fan base that supports all sports. Anyone go to the girl's soccer tourney here in town and see all the OSU Orange? That's another thing I really dig about OSU. You go to the game - you wear Orange. You don't dress up and look all pretty to show off to everyone; you wear Orange. Every Friday, any day of the year, is Orange Friday. I can't remember when I haven't called it that. Ok, so it's not the koolaid they drink down in the Cult of Bryant, but we don't have the tradition they have, either (or the cute male yellers in those spiffy overalls showing them what to say the night before). We don't even have an over .500 record in the history of our program. But everyone has to start somewhere. I believe we are doing a dern spiffy job.

Well done. It would be good to see OSU give the B12 a run for their money...makes the whole conference better.

Two questions for the good Captain...

You think you can take the Bedlam game this year?
Do you think someone who is a fan of a school, but not an alum, is a bandwagoner?

MajorMike

I think we can beat uo any given year. It happens that we are decent and it is at our house this year, which we seem to fare better. If we are healthy going into the game, I really like our chances.

The comment you might understand a little more if you were in Oklahoma, but snorman has a huge share of people and families that identify with uo football because it has been a power so long. Many of them have no connection with the school, but they sure go out and fly their WalMart car flags whenever they have a big win.

OSU does not have the luxury of these 'bandwagon' fans, because our history is limited. If you were a football fan, with no allegiance, you simply did not grow up an OSU fan because you were automatically the 'loser' in the state football race (as I said, 1 win in 28 years). The media outlets are all very pro uo (not to mention the paper is owned by the biggest donor in uo history). It is very inbred - uo beats OSU, it is a story and a given. OSU beats uo and that's not the main headline, it is what uo did to lose the game. The 2 biggest central population centers are all uo fan stongholds. Just the accepted way it is and has always been. They want to point out that they sell out 90k a game and we scratch 48k a game. However, those 48k are there for OSU - rain or shine. We brought 35k to both the Cotton Bowl and the Alamo Bowl (still the largest Alamo Bowl crowd not involving a Texas team). We brought 30k to the Houston Bowl. When we go to SMU and Ark State and Houston and Tulsa and Baylor, we are half the stadium. During this whole time, you have never been able to mistake us for a BCS contender. Since our breakthru win at uo in 1995, we have had 7 losing seasons in 12 years. And still we come, not to be on the bandwagon, but because we are fans.

IMO, OSU fans are the most loyal in the B12 behind Neb (who are not only the best fanbase, but the most hospitable and just a friendly lot in general) and the Cult of Bryan.

After all, 'Real Fans Wear Orange'.
