Just vote. It is an embarrasment how much Americans don't excercise their right to vote.

"It is an embarrasment how ... "

.... incredibly shitty are the candidates from both parties every year.

Compromised by corps and SIGs, showing no vision, no leadership, no courage to tackle the real problems, just like the voters.

IMHO, Americans have no idea the power of their votes regardless of the quality of the candidates.

The Excuse for News has a comic on the editorial page named "Mallard Fillmore" which is right wing in it's slant. For the past three days, they have been running pieces discouraging people who don't know the issues not to vote. Rather telling that the rightie wants people to stay home......unless they know the issue.

Wouldn't it be better to advocate people learn the issues and perform their civic duty?

There is now an argument in some circles whether voting is a right or privlege.

The vast majority of Americans don't know who Dennis Hastert is.

The vast majority of Americans don't know who Nancy Pelosi is.

People in Oregon, Missouri, Arizona and Colorado allow their votes to be swayed by the behavior of congressman in Florida or a botched joke from a Senator who's not even up for election.

Last night on the local news a man was asked who he was going to vote for. "The Democrat" was his answer. "Why" the reporterette asked. "Because unemployment is so high", was his answer. At which point his friend behind him (all live on camera) said, "No it's not - it's lower than its been in years, and you have a job." This was followed by BOTH the interogatee AND the reporterette in unison saying "Really?" followed by original ignorant guy saying, "I guess I'm voting for the Republican, then."

I'm going against the trend of this thread; Democracy is WAY overrated; if you don't have a clue, stay home - eat some ding-dongs and watch Oprah. For god's sake:

DON'T VOTE!!

I agree 100%! If you don't have a clue what is going on or what the candidates stand for - then you shouldn't vote.

But your vote has to go toward cancelling out the guy without a clue that votes against what you are going to vote for. :)
