Bruce isn't even the dirtiest player on his own team. That honor goes far and away to Robert Horry - and I'm not even sure Bruce is dirtier than Grabby Timmy.

Because of his defense, Bruce is someone who I consider one of my all-time favorite players. He's not too far behind Sean Elliott.

While I know he has a reputation for being "dirty," I have to disagree. He plays by the rules. I can't remember the last time he was called for a flagrant foul. If there's such a problem with him, why haven't the league officials been notified about what to look for? Sure, I've heard about him using his right hand to try to block a shot while the left gives a chop at a players' stomach...but if it's a problem for guys like Ray Allen, they need to speak up. Otherwise, I'm glad he does it. There aren't many better ways to defend a jump-shooter other than distracting him. Which reminds me of this: I've also noticed that he likes to put his leg under a player as he goes for a jump shot. That's not a foul. It's not against the rules whatsoever. It's effective because he distracts the shooter (they get worried about coming down and turning an ankle), but he always moves it in time.

That being said, here are some more fun Bruce pics...

Well, I think his cheap shot to the balls of Mike Finley was pretty dirty, but I would just put it on a list of things to consider later down the road when talking about Terry being a dirty player over the course of his career. Unless of course there are other things he's done...maybe I've missed them.

Dirtiest player? I'm going to have to ask for a Karl Malone thread. That stupid one-handed shot he would take from the free throw line on a regular basis pissed me off, because he would always elevate with his knee in front. Sure, it would help to ward off the shot-blocker, but he fucking went into their chest every time.

If that's not enough, someone needs to dig up the video where he KO-ed DRob. Seriously, that was messed up.

That being said, there's some contrary evidence in this video that could provide evidence of any number of players being dirty:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=KqcyduAlJas&mode=related&search=

There are a few Spurs clippings in there (one with Bruce and of course one with Marcus Camby swinging at Danny Ferry -- and instead hitting Jeff Van Gundy). But the second clipping in this video will tell you who my runner-up is for "dirtiest player" award...Juwan Howard.

He single-handedly removed the Spurs from being a championship contender when he did this. And then he later shoved Manu into the seats during play. I hate that bastard. If you wanna call Bruce "dirty", fine. Other than the one instance with Sczerbiak, I can't recall him doing anything like these guys.

Maybe he is the "dirtiest" player. After all, what Malone did was considered legal at the time. What Howard has done has NEVER been legal.

How soon we forget. While he was with the Spurs (thankfully for a short time) I saw Dennis Rodman do some things deliberately--such as submarining under a player who went up for a jump shot--that could have been career ending to other players.

Those moves were dirty, not hard defense.

When he moved on to the Bulls he moved up under DRob when he was coming down and bumped him hard, knowing that the man had a bad back.

And where does Stockton fall in all of this? He used that choirboy in the short shorts act to get away with murder on the PnR and backside pics.

Someone's going to need to refresh my memory on what Stockton would have done that even comes close to the things that Malone did. Fighting through a screen or pushing off for position is not the same as throwing a forearm or an elbow or kicking a guy on the way up.

I am not saying that Karl was not a dirty player. Quite frankly, I am still amazed that he was able to shoot the ball with any type of accuracy, considering he seemed more worried about who he was going to impale with a knee or elbow than he was with his shooting form.

As far as Stockton goes, no, he would not get the dirtiest player ever award, but if it were a team vote, then he and Malone are Dirty Teammates HoF material. Stockton was never afraid to give a big man the elbow or a fist when coming through the lane or fighting through a pick.

Chuck Norris does not experience jealousy. Chuck Norris created jealousy so that others could desire to be like him. Once Chuck Norris thought he experienced jealousy, but realized he was looking in a mirror.

Jeff Van Gundy gets his ass beat way to much. And Bird, Shaq, and Reggie Miller were all really dirty. I watched like 4 of those fight videos, and the three of them and V.G. are in pretty much all of them. Best fight ever, Heat vs Knicks when PJ Brown flips Chris Childs

I can't find no way how a player can be called dirty when half the shit he does he doesn't get called for it, god damn learn and use the same tactics. Basketball is a contact sport, learn to fucking grab, hold, push they're not gonna call it half the fucking time if they did the games would be longer than 15 innings of Major League Baseball.

Malone was, by far, the dirtiest player who ever played the game, and that is including the Jeff Ruland, Rick Mahorn and Bill Laimbeers of the world. Malone gave Isiah Thomas a few stitches in a game for no apparent reason (you can blame Thomas sucking at GMing on that one ... perhaps), breaking Donyell Marshall's ribs while going for a layup (no, MALONE going for a layup, not Marshall), on top concussion he gave DRob.

What ever happened to, "bring that shit in here and you'll end up on your back!" So the league has one guy willing to play defense. Maybe, Fillmoe would like us to sprinkle roses on the path to the basket for the NBA don't touch this playas.
