Republicans are slightly up in the exit polls nationwide on House Races.

:rolleyes

Turn of the wing-nut radio, those numbers are still sequestered.

88% of voters "confident" their vote will be accurately counted

Still a lot of work to be done over the e-voting issue.

You're right, they still have their 2004 numbers up and I failed to notice the year. My bad.

Not intentional.

Wait, I'm confused, are you saying that the 62% that don't approve are ALL voting on national issues rather then local.

Oh, Gee!!

there are questions over the manner those polls were conducted and how the question was asked to reach the corruption issue.

Or is that a totally different poll?

Yes, that is what the early exit polls are saying, all politics are local? not today.

From ABC News:

Preliminary Exit Poll Results Show Disdain for Bush
About Four in 10 'Strongly' Disapprove of Bush; Iraq High on List of Concerns
Politics Headlines

Nov. 7, 2006 — Preliminary exit poll results indicate that nearly six in 10 voters today disapprove of the way President Bush is handling his job.

About four in 10 approve of Bush's performance. That's down from 53 percent approval in 2004, and 67 percent just before the 2002 midterm elections.

About four in 10 "strongly" disapprove of the president's work, more than double the number of strong approvers.

Intensity of sentiment for and against, by contrast, was about equal in 2004: Thirty-three percent strongly approved of the president's performance, and 35 percent strongly disapproved. And in 2002, strong approvers dominated, quite a contrast from today.

The war in Iraq is a serious concern. In preliminary exit poll results, nearly six in 10 voters disapprove of the war, while about four in 10 approve. Approval of the war was higher, 51 percent, in the 2004 election. And about four in 10 now "strongly" disapprove of the war, up from 32 percent two years ago.

Related to concerns about the war in Iraq, voters today are more apt to say the country's seriously off on the wrong track than to say it's going in the right direction. The last time this view was more negative than positive was back in 1994, when Republicans took control of the House of Representatives.

The president, at least to some extent, is looking like a drag on his party this election. In preliminary exit poll results, voters by more than a 10-point margin, are more apt to say they're voting to show opposition to Bush rather than to show him support. More than a third are voting to show opposition to the president. That compares with 21 percent in 1998, during the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal, and 27 percent in 1994.

Has anyone done a comparison as to how accurate exit polling is?

MannyIsGod
11-07-2006, 06:11 PM
Its accurate, but in close races it can be meaningless because the margin of error is larger than the margin of the races. We found out how misleading it can be in 04. Still, those numbers look good for the Democrats.

Take them with a big ass grain of salt though.

I remember the 2004 elections in Ohio were all about "values", but only 20% of voters at exit said that was their first value. 2004 Ohio elections were really all about voting difficulties and anomalies that ALL were to be in favor of the Repugs, giving dubya the election.

Similarlyl, if the economy is so good, why are 39% putting it ahead of Iraq?

Of course, the only value that dominates all others for the super-rich is more tax cuts.

Corruption: Repugs are the headliners

Terrorism: Repugs lost Iraq,Afghanistan, and allowed the WTC attack

Economy: dubya's been droning on how good it is. Sounds like not many were convinced. He has NO credibility.

Iraq: the Repugs' shithole in exclusivity.

All "national" issues and fully the responsibility of the Repugs.

Most polls in the past several months have shown most Americans to trust the Dems on NatSec more than the Repugs.

This election is referndum on dubya, his phony Iraq war, and his botched NatSec job.
