On the halftime show they said Larry Brown's settlement was I think 18.5 million! Must admit it was quite pimpish of him to get all that dough for whining on t.v. and in the NY Post when he should've been coaching and building chemistry w/ his team.

I don't think that's right. In another article, they said he got between 30-35M of the remaining 40M.

Now he can move on to be the Mavs new coach!

Wouldn't full mean the entire $40M?

True, but that was specualtion. The way it was worded on the halftime show was as if it was official.

$18.5 million for getting fired and to NOT coach is not bad.

It's bad when you sign a guaranteed contract. The Knicks were dumb enough to sign him to a ridiculous contract and they are lucky to have gotten off like this. They should have been forced to pay him the full $40 million, or close to it. But I think Brown had to accept this settlement and could have argued for more if he wanted too. This is what Pop was worried about...

Nice to know that rich people don't have to honor contracts they give to their employees.

Of course, the question also must be asked, was LB honoring his contract or did he quit on the team?

Of course, the question also must be asked, was LB honoring his contract or did he quit on the team?True, but it doesn't matter if it wasn't in the contract. Players sign big contracts and then stop giving effort all the time, but if the team tried to get out of it there'd be an uproar. Why should it be different because it's a coach?
