Worst officiating I've seen since last year's Suns/Mavs and Spurs/Mavs series... it amazes me how great the Mavs' home court advantage is in Phoenix.

Points of emphasis:
1. Nash offensive foul (???)
2. Terry flop on Amare screen (to differentiate it from the Diop/Dampier fouls, I will point out that those guys were moving on their screens and Diop got called twice for setting screens with his elbows out, which is not allowed... not like I would expect a Mavs fan to know the rules)
3. Stackhouse double-dribble, then Devean George steps out of bounds and a foul is called on Stoudemire.

All happened in the last 2 minutes and all contributed to the second time the Suns have been screwed in the final minute this season by officiating - they should be 3-3 and not 1-5, but they also need to stop sucking ass for long stretches and somehow find a way to the free throw line.

I'm waiting for analyst to point out that the Suns somehow get called for a lot of touch fouls/Dirk flopping for a team that "doesn't play any defense." If they really don't play any, then someone has to be fouling those people. Nash is also the only two-time MVP never to get enough respect calls, while Dirk (the continual 3rd place vote-getter) seems to get them.

Officiating was horrible both ways, not just against the Suns.

I concur - I was merely commenting on the timeliness of those calls... all coming in the final 2 mins. A 3rd foul on Diop and Dampier in the 2nd quarter isn't as pivotal, since both teams were shooting lights out the whole game. Same thing happened to the Suns against Utah when Carlos Boozer knocked a Barbosa shot off the rim with 45 seconds left and then the Suns lose by 4.

Something must be done about Bevetta. I've yet to talk to a fanbase that likes this 90 year old official. Some of the calls makes you :bang your head. The Mavs and Suns may dislike each other. But we do agree that Bevetta does not need to be officiating another game.

I caught the last few minutes and that was just awful all the way around. Bad calls, offenses looked out of whack, and zero D to speak of. So many jumpers and screw ups down the stretch it that the Mavs won by being the team that choked the least. It's important that they got their first win, but this is far from turning a corner.

This was also the first time I've seen Amare play extended minutes and he's really lost a step. The Suns tried to run the Amare/Nash pick and roll a few times in the closing minutes and got nothing with it. With Stoudemire healthy and playing against a weak D that would have result in dunk after dunk after dunk, but those knees have really brought him down to earth. I know that you don't recover from his surgery for nearly 18 months, but he looked like an old man out there at times.

"playing against a weak D"

I didn't see the whole game, but the commentator said the Mavs had defended well on several of those pick n rolls. If that's true, then Amare's knees aren't the main or only reason pnr didn't work so well. I know I did catch Amare making a couple huge Amare power dunks late in the game, one off the pnr, that looked as un-old-man as ever.

Admittedly, what I saw of the game was after falling asleep on the couch and waking up to catch the last five minutes. It could be that Amare was just plain out of gas since this is by far the most minutes he played all season. Whether the knees or his conditioning from where I was sitting it seems he still has a ways to go.

As far as the "weak D", I'm just going off of the final score. I figured either the Mavs weren't playing much defense or every's Suns player's jumper was on last night. And from what I saw down the stretch I figured it was more bad D than great O.

Suns are definitely having much bigger problems than anybody imagined 10 days ago.

I can't believe an experienced, successful coach like Mike absolutely refuses to give defense anything but lip service.

I watched the entire game and neither team played a lick of "D" all night. Basically, the Mavs beat the Suns playing Sun's style. I doubt that was the plan going in but that's how it played out. I barely recognize this Mav team. Their offense has improved slightly since they put Harris in starting lineup (last game) but they aren't playing anywhere close to the way they played D last season.

and 0 in the 4th quarter - per usual. Anyone can score 25 in the first half by shooting 10 FTs and having the offiicials force the Suns to play no D against him.
