One would think it would be dallas and phoenix but both have been terrible thus far

maybe clippers and NO might be the closest rivals

The Spurs, IMO, are still their own worst enemy.

Kings or Rockets? Utah? Okur always kicks our ass

Spurs should be the class of the Western Conference. But, I don't count out Dallas or Phoenix out at all, even with their respective poor starts. And, I think New Orleans will drop off, but they have been solid to start the season.

Houston will still present a problem should they remain healthy enough.

And, I think Utah always plays hard enough to be in every game. They might not have the most talent, but they are very solid upfront, and in that weak division, they might be the best. They always play hard. Sloan coaches them to play smart. If they can get consistent outside shooting, they could be a legit threat.

new orleans looked decent last year as well... until they lost like 10 games in a row (or 10 of 12 .. something like that) late in the season.

We'll probably got 2-2 vs Hornets in the season, but they aren't mature enough to get out of the first round.

IMO, it's still the Lakers. No team with Kobe coached by Phil Jackson is going to stink two years in a row.

Terrible enough to take us down to the wire when we played them.

Nice to see someone acknowledge the elephant in the room.

LA of course have the closer and coach to give SA fits. They also have the most size up front (Bynum, Brown, Turiaf and by playoff time Mihm) to throw different kinds of looks at SA.

The matchup would be old school - none of this uptempo no D approach. Just halfcourt basketball.

The wildcard would be Odom's versatility vs the Spurs experience. If Spurs fans thought Bonzi was a beast, an aggressive Odom would be even worse. On the flip side, LA may be young and confident but there is nothing compared to being through it all before and not being shook.

Clippers may be the outside bet

they have the size and defence to challenge the Spurs

They also have a deep bench and are well coached. Tim Thomas also showed that he can step up in the playoffs like he did last year. Cassell is also very clutch in the post season.

clips will be up there now and for plenty more years.

True but now they have added Peja, Jackson and Chandler.

you are fucking retarded. we are only through the first week of the season, and you already are going to say that the clippers and hornets could be bigger threats?

I would agree. I have always liked his game but sometimes he lacks focus. When he is on, he is deadly.

I said both have struggled thus far so MAYBE the clips and Hornets could be the closest rivals. Both dallas and suns look like garbage right now..but yes it is early...clips and hornets have looked impressive therefore i mentioned them.

Learn to read yourself, dipshit.

I said "we are only through the first week of the season, and you already are going to say that the clippers and hornets COULD be bigger threats?"

again, COULD. true, anything can happen, but its WAY too damn early to even say COULD.

i'll slightly agree with part of his post. i'm not writing off the mavs by any stretch of the imagination, but for some reason, the clips seem to match-up really well with the spurs.

oh i agree. the clips are a solid team. so are the hornets. i just think its kinda dumb that he already even considers that the Mavs and Suns could be lesser opponents.

I've always felt that this team if it's healthy is the best team in the NBA, so IMO, injuries are the Spurs biggest threat.

The greatest threat would be our police state government preparing for another 9/11. Sports seasons could be easily be shortened due to gov't terrorists in our own backyard.

Police state? I pretty much do what I please, as long as I don't go breaking any laws, and most of my neighbors seem to be doing pretty good, even the law breakers are doing fine. What is it that the State won't let you do or what freedom are they curtailing from you.

If they take the Spurs off the TV, then I'll have a problem. :downspin: :downspin:

If Houston stays healthy, I think they are the biggest threat.

Otherwise, it's early to think playoff matchups, but if we do, then the Clips will bug us, the Lakers will bug us, the Suns will bug us, and potentially NO/OK will bug us.

Totally feel you on the Utah thing, they always seem to give us problems and they are looking pretty good this year and Houston when they get Bonzi in the full swing of things will be tough. And the Mavs cant really be this bad Right? Right?

I would agree. I have always liked his game but sometimes he lacks focus. When he is on, he is deadly.Kobe is only ave 21pts/game while Odom @ 20pts/game but that Lakers Sophomore Bynum is now ave 12 pts/game.
and Phil is the coach. But unless their another center Kwame & Mihm are back into the line up they're not really so much of threat for lack of size.

I'm worried of Houston. Defense plus size. Plus the scorers-TMac & Bonzi Wells.

But like they said-it's too early to tell. :wakeup

I agree w/ the Clips and also the Mavs even w/ the poor start I think they'll come around and go on a tear. Not worried about PHX (gimmicks never worried me).
