I am just wondering...I know he grew some after the Spurs drafted him, but I am wondering if the Spurs is still going on and if anyone has any reports on his current height.

I'll answer your question with one of my own: Do you ever see Tony during clock stoppages on the floor with Tim and Manu standing next to him?

He ain't 6'2" no more, closer to 6'4". Young men can grow up until the age of 25. That's why I was in favor of the NBA age limit. The 82 game season plus playoffs puts too much strain on the open bone caps. See: Bender, Jonathan; Stoudemire, Amare. I'm GLAD the Spurs are bringing Mahinmi along slowly.

He's getting some arms on him....starting to show signs of the weight regimen the Spurs wanted him on....that's good and what he needs to do to make it in the NBA IMO.

Still hard to tell how tall he is...do you know how tall player #7 is Bruno?

Number #7 is the famous Britton Johnsen.
6'10" without shoes
6'10.75" with shoes

Are you serious? Because Mahinimi looks a good 3 or 4 inches taller than Johnsen.

Holy cow. That would be awesome.

I know Mahinimi was on a growth spurt....it looks like it is definitely still happening.

Good times :smokin

I'm guessing the Spurs plan on bringing him over next year? That could give the Spurs one hell of a deep rotation of centers.

It's difficult to judge a player size by looking at a picture. I doubt that mahinmi is 3 inches taller than Johnsen. Last year Ludden has said that he was 6'10" and close to 6'11".
I will try to find a better picture to judge Mahinmi size.

It's a picture taken in august 2006 with Johnsen.
The small guy is john Gilchrist (6'2.5" in shoes)

He still looks a couple inches taller than Johnsen in that picture.
He is leaning forward slightly. Let's just call him a 7 footer for now.

This is true...it's also possible that Johnsen is not a legit 6'10...

Players fudge on their heights all the time...Duncan used to be listed a 7'0, then 6'11, now he's 6'10.

Garnette looks like he's taller than 7' to me and TMac definitely looks taller than the 6'8-9 he is listed at...he's almost as tall as Dirk.

But what is known is that he has grown since the Spurs drafted him...so he could be getting around the 7' mark realistically.

If he somehow hits 7'1-7'2, there are like 5-6 other guys in basketball history with that kind of height, coordination, mobility and speed that Mahinimi(he is definitely athletic, coordinated and fast) seems to have. Names like Kareem, ATrain, Drob, Shaq and Wilt....

I only found a very small team photo on the Euroleague site with Britton and Ian in it. Ian doesn't really look any taller there -- I think he looks taller in the game photo because of the camera angle and the positions of the players in the frame. In the big team photo he looks to be about what he is listed relative to a guy like Mike Bauer.

This is true...it's also possible that Johnsen is not a legit 6'10...Bruno got his measurements from the 2003 NBA draft camp list.

Hmmm...he's deinitely taller than Britton there are two photos that show this.

Also look at the photo where he's walking in front of Thierry Rupert with his head bent down...he's gotta be 4 inches taller minimum than Rupert.

Some of those photos were taken in August also...the ones from the game were at the beginning of November.

If I had put put my opinon on it I'd say he's right at 7' now minimum...assuming Rupert and Johnsen are as tall as advertised.

Well if Johnsen is 6'10...there's no doubt in my mind Mahinimi is close to two inches taller than Johnsen at the least.

Johnsen is definitely 6'10, those are actual draft camp measurements .. they aren't wrong unless he wore lifts in his socks :spin

If Mahinmi was 6'10-11 last year then he could be 7' but I doubt. I have a picture of him next to Mo Sene from July, hold on a sec and I'll find it.

Nah, just saying what I think. He could grow more yet. I'm more hopeful he actually learns how to play basketball than grow another two inches.

July was months ago...

True. 4 months.

He was noticably shorter than Sene then. Thus my reasoning why he's not 7' + now.

Sene is 6'11 no shoes, 7'0 1/4 shoes (and over 7'8 wingspan).

Ian was making himself shorter to help Sene's confidence...cuz he knew Sene was going to suck.

He's going to turn into a monster shot blocker, but he doesn't have a clue about basketball basics or defending without fouling. They are thinking about sending him to D League.

He's got it...he just needs to play.

He does need to put on some weight...but he's got the coordination and athleticism to be an NBA big.

I love watching the guy play...he hustles his butt off.

defending without fouling.

That's Ian's problem too.

Look at the height of their shoulders instead of their heads.

Many of our foreign projects don't work out. But they keep us out of paying outrageous money to US prospects that don't work out either.
