I remember a story that Sean told about his time from Arizona. Lute Olsen took him aside one time and said: "Sean, you're not a very good player when you don't play hard." That truism applies to teams as well as players. Spurs just didn't play hard tonight, except for maybe the last 2 minutes of regulation.

I remember a time when that was a coach's responsibility.......Pop allowed this bullshit for 3 and a half quarters when he should have ripped their asses five minutes into the game. It's not as if we haven't seen this behavior from the Spurs countless other times. The Spurs, more than anything now, need an owner that puts some pressure on Pop and asks him to be a coach for 82 games a year, not just when he feels like it.

What's worse is that the Spurs seem to use that lazy ass back-to-back fatigue excuse. Had they treated tonight like a hard practice, they would've won in double figures. Dumb ass decisions and the most untimely shooting I've seen in ages.

Where did I make mention of firing Holt? You might live in Texas so illeteracy is quite probable but please tell me where I even hinted at 'firing' Peter Holt?
My point was, is and will continue to be, I don't think it's a good thing when you have a hands-off owner that knows nothing about the game giving complete control to one man (Gregg Popovich). I'm not saying I want a Mark Cuban but Pop, like some players has a tendency to get lazy, as evidenced tonight and basically on every back-to-back for the last TWO YEARS. I wont even bother mentioning losing to a grossly inferior Dallas team last year....wink-wink

Where was the Parker is not elite, after the NY game when he hung 33 on Marbury, and others.

A fukkin loss to the Bobcats at home by a championship caliber team defines stupidity, bullshit and suck.
I didn't watch the game, because I wouldn't waste my fukkin time on a popacoached team anymore...
Fuk him. Walton is dead on with ownership holding pop accountable every fukkin game instead of when he wants 2.

:reading Everybody needs to stop bitching about this loss and just take it. Something was bound to give The Bobcats' losing streak or our winning streak. Unfortunately ours was the one that got stopped. That's called law of averages. Best thing to do is suck it up and prepare for the next game.
Also I'd prefer to lose to the Bobcats and Cavaliers than to lose to those overpaid, overrated thugs called the Knicks. :downspin:

The Spurs missed a lot of layups and 3's. They made a lot of mistakes. They played 3 quarters and 10 minutes like they didn't care. And they got owned by Adam Morrison. It appeared Bowen hadn't watched any Morrison tape at all to prepare. But then LJ and I were talking about it and that's logical ... Morrison wasn't supposed to start. So Bowen probably prepared for Gerald Wallace all day and then got caught off guard having to defend Morrison. I expect the next time they matchup that Bowen will be able to defend him better.

:wakeup As I've said it's called the law of averages. For me it was about to happen. Remember we had two games wherein we had to play catchup. That catches up with you. it could be the next game or the next or the next next. Now regarding my statement about preferring to lose to the Cavs or Bobcats, I don't know if you noticed but there was a bit of sarcasm there :p:

So what's new? We simply lose about half of our back-to-backs, regardless of who we're playing.
Strange stats. We shot 37% and made 2-17 3s, with 18 TOs, but we outrebounded them by 22!
I'm not worried.
Whaddayareckon? Should we start benching 2 of the big three for back to backs and letting the benchers take over? It couldn't go much worse on b2bs than it already is.
Kori Ellis
11-16-2006, 01:08 AM

That happens when you miss a lot of layups and get your own boards :lol
It was a lazy game. I was surprised that the Spurs played so slow. The only one hustling up and down the floor was Elson. They were cold from three point land, and Finley had no business in the game at the critical moment. We keep waiting for him to heat up and he takes a weak ass jump shot with no time on the clock in regulation. WTF? It was the first truly dissapointing loss of the season. There will be more, you can count on it. It dosen't mean the championship dream of this year is gone, it just means that we need to work harder. So remove the sand from your vagina's San Antonio. The Spurs are going to be Ok, just a shitty night.

It was a lazy game. I was surprised that the Spurs played so slow. .
Why this would surprise anyone on a b2b is beyond me. They are a little tired, and even a 5% difference in energy/performance is enough to lose an NBA game. That's why I suggested we start rotating the lineups on b2bs - start the fresh legs!
Trade Manu for missing that wide open 3 near the end of regulation. Charlotte couldn't have taken a bigger bite of the bait on that play and it all went to shit.
No really, don't trade him, but that would have been clutch. I hope we own them hard next time, and we probably will. I was really looking forward to reviving the "Morrison crying" pics after we came back and won too. Damn.

Spurs might have not played well for 3 1/2 quarters, but the Bobcat players get paid too you know! Give them credit for winning the game. Don't rag on the Spurs for losing. Bobcats deserved the win tonight. It's not like they have been getting blown out. They are actually better than their record indicates and Morrison is going to be special.

I'll repeat this one more time for this thread.
EVERY team in the NBA is comprised of PROFFESSIONAL PLAYERS and ANY TEAM can beat ANY OTHER TEAM on ANY given night.
Otherwise.......They just would be no necessity in playing the game.

Okay, so the Spurs took the game lightly. So did many on this forum. Check out the vbookie on who would make the last basket. Bonner #1, in money...Beno #1in bets? Seems like a few felt that it would be a blowout....why else would anyone pick those two to be on the floor at the end of a game? Games like this happen to every team, every year.

I can't remember a season when this very same thing didn't happen. You could look at the facial gestures of the Spurs to know they were trying as hard as they could. It just wasn't there. The Bobcats didn't help our cause any by hitting almost 50 percent of their shots. In Houston, Pop got all over them at the half (according to Elson's interview at the end of the game), but even Pop didn't have it in him to repeat that tirade last night.
It's our second loss. There should probably be about 20 to 22 more just like it. How many of you are going to jump off the wagon only to run to catch up with it and jump back on? I'm sitting quite comfortably in the Spurs wagon. The loss last night only proves they are human, not machines.
The loss last night is making me feel less and less that home court advantage helps the home team. We had it last year. Didn't do us any good. The Mavericks then had it against the Heat. We all know what advantage that brought.
You still have to make your shots and not turn the ball over, no matter where you play.

And why do all these idiots feel the need to start a new "UNIQUE AND ORIGINAL" thread whenever their lives are invalidated by another Spurs loss?
I swear, after every loss I can find at least 3 BRAND NEW THREADS titled "Spurs Suck!" or "Fire Pop/Holt/Duncan." or "I Need a New Tampon Cause I Just Got Pwned!"
I move that there be an "Official Crybaby Thread" for losers like Sequ after every loss and an official "Spurs Fan" thread for fans who want intelligent discussion after each loss.

You talk like this team never wins anything, why don't you ask a Cubs fan what it is like year after year. I don't get why you can be so bitter about a team that has been this successful in the last 9 years. Wait till Duncan retires and this team is rebuilding through the draft, then you will really have something to bitch about.

Sean has mentioned that the past of couple of seasons. But so far no one seems to want to pick up that mantle. Horry has done it a couple of times, Manu, Bruce, Tony and TD rely more on thier game to get everyone going, but the team has needed a vocal leader the past few years, in 05 it was Pop's tirades that got them going, last year, no one stepped up. I knew last year would be different when on Van Exel's first couple of games when he just wouldn't play defense, Pop let him slide. This year he seems to be going back to 05 and starting to bitch at people big time.
But one of the players has to back him up and start getting in people's faces when they do a belly flop like they did against the CAVs and Bobcats.
Still, this is a vet team and their record is pretty good.
