but it changes the entire dynamic of people in say texas or california, feeling that their vote is useless.

It gives the smaller states a say in the matter and keeps them from being bulldozed by the big states. Gets their views heard...I'd think most liberals would want to make sure the little guy is heard.

i'm still in favor of the electoral college. without it, candidates would just spend most of their efforts in larger cities and .. well, my state would still be ignored. so, meh, i guess i don't really care. both systems are flawed to some degree. electoral college is slightly better, although i think electorates should be required to vote the way their state does.
