It's pretty sour like that. I got some Herradurra, Grand Marnier, and fresh limes, and they tasted horrible until I threw some sugar in them.

They have about a billion and three different margarita recipes, as well as 4 different versions of the original.

Also, if you want to add sugar to the drink, it's well worth it to make some simple syrup (1 part sugar to 1 part water heated over the stove until dissolved) so that it dissolves in the drink easier and faster.

I could be mistaken but it is my understanding that it is “bad form” to ruin a good tequila with triple sec....There was a guy here named “Cosmic” that would know...But he no longer posts here...

First step, quality tequila. If you don't want to break the bank, Sauza Hornitos is very tasty and can be bought for under 20 bucks. Next, mixer. I like to find authentic mixers from Carneceria's but any decent store brand will do. Grand Marnier is a must to top of the margarita.

I usually go one part tequila to one part mixer so they aren't too sweet. Top it off with the Grand Marnier and you are set.

Be sure to drink a lot of them, good things tend to happen.

There are thousands of ways to make a Margarita.

Simple:
2 ounces tequila
1 1/3 ounce Cointreau
2/3 ounce lime juice

Shake well with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass. Optional: You can prepare the cocktail glasss by miostening the rim with lime juice, and then dipping it into coarse salt.

The rest is up to you. Add what you like. Different juices, etc. But use a good quality tequila.

You know, if somebody would have just read the posts to me without telling me the poster, I would have guessed Jekka 9 out of 10 times.

That was going to be my suggestion. My parents always made them with Mr. and Mrs. T's mixers, but they would go with store brand limeade mix in a pinch. They were always good, but I'm not much of a mixed drink fan myself. Beer for me plz.
