Guess what assholes, you prooved just how irrelevent we are. If I could shoot everyone that didn't vote, I just might.

MannyIsGod
11-03-2004, 10:35 AM
Yes, maybe for the Pro Bush side, but it's obvious that groups like the youth which were heavily Kerry decided to once again, sit things out.

BTW, almost half of the nation who was registered to vote didn't. In Mass hardly qualifies when you actually look at what happened and what ALWAYS happens in our elections.

We were busting a nut at the thought of 60 percent even though that's far from a great turnout if you ask me, and we didn't even hit that.

MannyIsGod

Amen, brother.

I'm not proclaming to know exactly what Texas State is thinking (and I voted in Bexar), but here are the numbers for Hays County. I know registering voters isn't a tell-all of who's voting who, but from what I know, the College Dems registered at least 2,000 while the College Repubs registered about 800.

Glad to hear Kerry's conceding so as not to draw this out. Bush won, let's work on making the country better now.

I do agree with Manny though. The youth of this country obviously do not realize the power they could have if they tried. Then again, voter apathy is not solely a problem with the 18-35 set. Too many people fought and died to assure us the right to vote. More and more people seem to care less and less about that.

Not exactly. A rather sizable number of eligible voters in the nation opted to not take part in "the most important presidential election" of their lives or whatever.

One does not have to vote to participate in the political process. Obviously non-votes that would have otherwise gone to a candidate have some impact on the outcome of a given race.

I don't have a problem with people choosing not to vote, if they are truly apathetic about the government. Many people simply don't feel like it affects them one way or the other, so if they don't want to vote, so be it.

But those who do care, and are constantly complaining about government intrusion or whatever... not voting simply perpetuates a neverending cycle of Politicans ignoring you.

Corporations cater to consumers, not nonconsumers. And politicians cater to voters, not nonvoters.

I still don't get the analogy.

Owning a gun has nothing to do with me trying to make my voice heard in an election year. Unless I'm doing something illegal with that gun ...

The funny thing is I don't criticise Bush...I never make posts like others here bashing the administration because I don't care. That's why I didn't vote.

But where I'm making the analogy of voting to owning a gun, they are both rights in the constitution, but Mikey is making it seem like the only rights that people die for are voting rights. I'm saying they die for all of them and just because you don't excercise one of them doesn't mean you are a "coward and are dismissing their sacrifice." If it does..then Mikey is also a coward and dismisses their sacrifices by not owning a firearm.
