Probably backloaded - and he makes the Cubs better now. That's really all that matters. In eight years, they will have found a way out of that contract. He gives them a damn good lineup with Ramirez, Lee, and Alfonso.

Rumor is he'll play CF, which will be interesting to watch.

Bad contract on paper - but I doubt it will actually turn into a problem down the road.

It's not 10 years for $250 million. And they might get more out of Soriano than those who are paying the 10/$250M are getting for their investment.

Soriano brings a unique skill set to any team. For the last several years, he's not been surrounded by enough pitching and other offensive weapons to truly make the best use of those skills. Whether the Cubs have those things remains to be seen, but it almost never hurts a team to have a 40/40 guy in the lineup -- particularly one who can hit almost anywhere in the order.
