NEW YORK, Nov. 20, 2006 --

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James and the Dallas’ Mavericks Dirk Nowitzki today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Nov. 13 through Sunday, Nov. 19.James averaged 29.5 points on .513 shooting, while posting 5.8 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game to lead the Cavs to a 3-1 week and a tie atop the standings in the Eastern Conference. James’ week included a 37-point, nine-rebound and six-assist performance in a game against Minnesota on Nov. 17. James led or tied for the team lead in scoring in all four games during the week. Nowitzki led the Mavs to a 3-0 record, averaging 27.0 points on .462 shooting and 11.0 rebounds. Nowitzki recorded a double-double in all three games. Nowitzki also led the team in scoring in all three games and in eight of the nine games he has played in this season. In addition, he attempted 10-plus free throws in all three games.Here is a closer look at the week for James and Nowitzki:

LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers
# Nov. 13 at New York: Posted 29 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals in a 102-96 win over the Knicks.
# Nov. 15 vs. Portland: Scored 22 of his game-high 32 points in the second half, while adding seven assists and seven rebounds in a 100-87 win over the Trail Blazers.
# Nov. 17 vs. Minnesota: Recorded a game-high 37 points, and added nine rebounds, six assists, and two blocks in a 92-76 win over the Timberwolves.
# Nov. 18 at Washington: Recorded 20 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals in a 111-99 loss to the Wizards.

Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks
# Nov. 14 vs. Chicago: Posted a double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds in a 111-99 win over the Bulls.
# Nov. 17 at Memphis: Led his team in scoring with 26 points and tallied 10 rebounds and dished out five assists in a 115-103 win over the Grizzlies.
# Nov. 18 vs. Memphis: Recorded his third double-double of the week with 24 points and 13 rebounds in a 89-84 win over the Grizzlies.

Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Denver’s Carmelo Anthony, Detroit’s Richard Hamilton, New Orleans/Oklahoma City’s Peja Stojakovic, Orlando’s Dwight Howard, Portland’s Zach Randolph and Utah’s Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams.
