I didn't see this posted anywhere, but there is a MMA event tonight at Cowboys. Jesse James Leija is the promoter, and there are 10 scheduled fights. Gen Admission is $15 and Ringside is $35-$75...should be a good show.

A buddy of mine is fighting in the main event.

Cool...I haven't been able to checkout a local MMA show yet. $15 is cheap...I'd check it out, but I'm not in SA...

His name is Brandon McDowell. He's not on the fight card, b/c he took Tim Williams' spot against Jimmy Foreman, when Williams got hurt in practice. He took the fight on like 5 days notice, but I saw him yesterday and he's in pretty good shape. All he does is train. Should be interesting.

That's great man. I'll be sure to cheer for him. $15 bucks is too cheap to pass up so I'm definitely heading out to the fights. We gotta support these local shows so your buddy and the other fighters can get paid!

Thanks for posting the announcement.

It was a good show. Alot of the early fights were mismatches, so there were some decent KOs early. My friend, Brandon, fought second to last and won in about 1:26 of the 1st round. He actually broke the dude's arm in an arm bar. All-in-all, it was a good show for Jesse James Leija's 1st promotion.

How was the crowd? Any fights outside of the ring? Hope not, but I know that's how some of these smaller shows work with assholes who know nothing about MMA get sloppy drunk and start shit.

The crowd was relatively tame. There were easily a few thousand people there and I never noticed any fighting outside the ring.

^^^The crowd wasn't too bad at all. I didn't see any fights breakout or anything like that. They didn't boo much either. Most of the fights were so quick that the audience didn't really have a chance to get bored.

I had a great time and I was glad to see such a large turnout.

Did you see my boy break that dude's arm?

Wow, something to be proud of...

It wasn't like he was trying to break it, it was an arm bar and the guy didn't tap in time. I wasn't trying to promote hurting someone, just commenting on my friend dominating his fight. He broke the hold as soon as the guy tapped. Sorry if that was taken the wrong way...

That's cool.

Did you go with anyone, cornbread?

Cool...you just made it sound like he was trying to break it, or he was proud that he did...

Glad to hear that the crowd wasn't too bad. I've read bad things about some of the small show crowds...

Yeah, I went out there with a few of my buddies. Everybody had a great time. We bought the $15 GA tickets and it was a little difficult to see at times due to the lack of stadium seating on the ground level. The brighter side is that we were still able to get relatively close to the cage and there were tv's all over the place so we never missed any of the action.

I was happy to see that the crowd was fairly respectful.
