Peterson's consecutive games streak ends at 371

November 22, 2006

TORONTO (AP) -- Morris Peterson was scratched from the Toronto Raptors' game against Cleveland on Wednesday night because of a slightly torn tendon in his left elbow, ending the longest consecutive games streak in the NBA.

Peterson played in 371 straight games since Feb. 12, 2002.

The elbow has bothered him for more than a week and an MRI on Wednesday showed the slight tear. He's listed as day-to-day.

"It's going to be kind of awkward sitting on the sideline watching the game," Peterson said. "I'm going to have to borrow a jacket from Chris Bosh. I don't have too many sport coats. I didn't plan on sitting out."

Peterson, who lost his starting job last week, is averaging 12.3 points and 3.6 rebounds.

Atlanta's Joe Johnson entered Wednesday with the second longest active streak at 365 games. Johnson would need to keep playing at least another decade to approach the record of 1,192 set by A.C. Green from 1986-01.

I don't know if I'm right, but I believe Bruce is behind Joe by 1 game.

Good for Bruce.

Nobody is ever going to break A.C. Greens' record.

Good for Bruce.

Nobody is ever going to break A.C. Greens' record.

That's what they said about Gehrig.

Spurs were only 10-10 when Bruce was last injured too.

A.C. Green's virgin energy made him unstoppable. Hell yeah!
