I want to trade my xbox into gamestop because i want a 360 and plus my xbox is broken anyway. Ive never traded in a console in but im afraid their gonna try it out and throw back at me. Do they test the consoles out or not or do they take like a game?

All the places I've taken my stuff to tested the games and consoles, so most likely they wont take em (or theyll give you very little for it)but who knows, you might get lucky. :)

I got a $40 trade in for a ps2 that had disc read error. But I don't see how. EB/Gamestop are dumb shits when it comes to trade ins.

If you take that PS2, open it up, and swab the lens of the CD drive with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol, it will most likely start reading your discs again.

You can try Ebay if Gamestop won't take it. Here's a few that are going for some good cash:

Its not just cleaning the lense (although that works sometimes), they made the mechanism that adjusts the angle of the lens too weak, its really easy to adjust though, its just a gear that you turn.... just have to keep testing after each adjustment to see what works best for you....

Thats probably why they took the Playstation 2 with the disc read error. really easy to fix.

I doubt they will take the Xbox unless the problem is easily fixable...

It was one of those old 'fat' ps2's and I was looking to get a slim one anyway. Plus, it scratched up like 5 of my games, so I was like fuck it.

My PS2 tray and lens were fucked up, but a cool guy @ EB said he'd give me $60 Credit for it, even though it was busted. So I got a Slimline for about 90 bucks CDN (in January).
