You guys seriously overpaid for that lazy bastage. As a Rangers fan I was beyond excited when he got traded here but his fielding is horrible and his work ethic is worse. Maybe new team, big contract, clean slate.... I wish you guys the best but he is going to need to step it up fielding-wise with the speedy little base runners playing small ball in the NL.

Well, the 'Stros main need has been offensive production the last few years. Lee/Berkman/Ensberg/Huff is a pretty powerful combo. Hopefully they re-sign Pettitte and maybe bring in Woody Williams. Then they will be in a good position to get back to the Series. If you throw in a half season of the Rocket...thats just a bonus.
He's going to be a monster with the short porch in left at Minute Maid. Overpaid, sure - but every contract is absurd now. Look at Gary Matthews Jr. Astros needed offense, they got offense.

:lol
100 million for 6 years for him?
Do the Astros know there is no DH in the National League? :lmao
Aubrey Huff's price would be perfect for the Cardinals to sign him and put him in right field.
Como that with signing Luis Gonzalez, resigning Jeff Weaver, signing a Ted Lilly or other pitcher of that ilk, and the Cards will be right back where they were this past October :)

We should stick to basketball because we don't agree with your opinion of it being a great signing? :rolleyes Whatever. The dozen or so peeps that actually do want to talk baseball here all need to stay... maybe it's you with your 1 baseball post trying to tell people to stick to basketball that needs to leave.

Good job boys you got an aging, over weight average outfielder on the decline, but he can still hit so yeah its deffently worth 100 mil

they already have a great cf on the up and up - gwj is over 30 already. i am optimistic about the lee signing - he's a righty with that short porch, taveras can already cover at least a third of left already, and if he learns to play the wall right that would be a plus. it can't hurt to add a bat like his to a run deficient team like the stros - if he bats behind berkman he will have plenty of opportunity to drive in runs - if he hits well berkman gets more pitches to hit. it may not pan out but is worth the risk.

What did you want to do? Whip out the checkbook and pay almost $200 million combined for a lazy glover with an ageing bat and two guys who werent even blips on the radar a year ago and are over 30? Fuck that! Signing solid guys like Catolonatto to short years and money is better.
It's not liek they are being cheap. They bid $27 million for Matsuzaka, way more than I imagined they would. But big teams like the Red Sox can bid more. They will also regret it more later on.

GMJ and his one season? no thanks...
Rangers just need to go after guys like Huff, Belliard, and others.
Huff would replace Lee just fine.
