It looks freaking sweet, and I'm thinking about picking it up after the game tonight.

Scratch that. You can control your teammates in single player with voice commands? I'm definitely buying this game tonight.

Is that on the XBOX 360?

Yeah

And positioning is really what Vegas is all about, thanks to an excellent new cover system. By holding down the Left Trigger, you will switch to a third-person view and duck behind cover, be it a slot machine, an Axe Body Spray sign or a bombed out Dodge Durango (product placement, you see.) While in cover, you can still aim and safely blind-fire. Among the greatest moves in the game is placing your reticule on an enemy face, popping out from cover for a split second, firing a single, brain-splattering round, and sliding back into cover. By pushing up on the stick, you can pop out above cover. By hitting left or right, you can pop out to the side. The system is, quite simply, the best use of cover in any shooter, more intuitive and smoother than even Gears of War. From a doorway, you can pop out, check that the room is clear, and then actually bend all the way around the wall -- you have 360 degrees of movement. By letting go of the left-trigger, you swing right back into first person.

How rough is it on the system if you use the 360 for HD DVDs? I know that I had some hard core gamer friends who said that using the PS2 as a DVD player was a bad idea because of the wear and tear on the system. Is it the same on a 360?

I don't play enough video games to justify getting one just for that, but if its a good HDDVD player I think I'll pick it up at that price.

You got me. The 360 is the first console I've owned since Super Nintendo. I've been strictly a PC gamer from the 90s until a month and a half ago, but the consoles (X360,PS3, and Wii) got so good there's no way I can ignore them. :lol

Looks badass. But is it better than Call of Duty 3 or Gears of War?

I'm very sick of Call of Duty 3 already. It's a great MP game, and so/so SP, but I worked on it and know it like the back of my hand, so I'm in no rush to jump on XBox Live with it. I'll get both, R6 mostly for SP, and GOW mostly for MP.

I hope this will be better than the dissapointing Ghost Recon 3 Game.

I read somewhere, possibly here, that was saying the new Rainbow Six is one of the best FPS made. That may have been an opinion of a user here though.

This is hands down the best FPS I've ever played as far as SP goes (in all fairness I've yet to play Gears of War though). I love the first couple of stages when you're in a Tijuana clone and all these guys are are cussing you out in Spanish after you start blasting on them. The casinos are beautiful, the sound effects are awesome, the cover system is outstanding, the recon is fun, and most importantly, unlike almost every other FPS I've ever played, you're not able to take bullets like Tony Montana. If you get hit twice anywhere, you most likely die. If you get hit in the head or with a shotgun, show's over. When you take a bullet anywhere, things become really hazy and all you can do is hide, because you're in no position to shoot anyone unless they're standing right in front of you and reloading. Health regenerates very slowly.

Two complaints though:
1) The voice commands are broken. Hopefully this is fixed soon in a patch.
2) The product placements: one stage you begin looking at two huge Axe body spray billboards from your chopper as you're getting ready to deploy.

Awesome game though. I love rappelling down the side of a building and giving people head shots though windows with a Desert Eagle while upside down.

Haven't tried MP yet, since I'm still trying to beat the SP mode first.

^ Manny, the HD/DVD player for the 360 is a stand alone add-on that plays the HD/DVD's in a separate player. So, you don't play them from the 360 console, and thus shouldn't effect wear and tear on the 360. Now, you can play regular DVD's from the 360 console, haven't heard anything on problems with wear and tear, hope that helps!
