View Full Version : Why does this board always go nuts...

after a loss?

Please.

Just because it's the Mavs, some of you think it's the end of the world.

Yes, the Spurs played some shitty ball in the first half, but they played some really good ball in the second half.

At this point in the season, this game is meaningless. The only thing it affects is the power rankings.

You people need to quit overreacting every time the Spurs lose and instead look at the bigger picture.

This game means much less than most of you are making it, just as the opening night win meant much less than most you did make it.

The Spurs still have problems guarding Devin Harris. Tony still has jitters in big games. But the Spurs can still take many positives out of this game.

Oberto boards well against the Mavs, and they forget about him on offense.

The Mavs have no answer for Tim Duncan.

Bowen will absolutely shut down Howard.

When Parker has his mid-range game going, the Mavs can't stop him.

If the Spurs take care of the ball and quit turning it over, they can take the Mavs.

This was a tough loss, but considering that's it's early in the season in a game the Mavs needed to win for their own self esteem with a Manu injury, a hot shooting performance from Dallas, and a relatively bad night from Parker, I just end up looking at it as another loss. No one thought the Spurs were light years ahead of the Mavs, and this game just reminds us that these two teams are pretty evenly matched.

Hopefully the Spurs take the right lessons from this game, namely that they can come back from big deficeits, that they can keep up on the boards, that they can find holes in the Mavs' defense.

We shouldn't harp on all their perceived failings, but instead look at the postive things we saw tonight.

Honestly, it's because of what the Mavs represent - how whining and acting can get you more calls than actual winners get. I wish the Suns would act more like this if it gets them a phony Finals appearence.

I still think a lot of people are overreacting, especially in the game blog.

Still, I'm not happy we lost, I just don't think we should fire Pop for having Vaughn, Horry, Oberto, Barry and Finley on the floor at the same time, as weird as that sounds.

The reason why this board goes crazy is because this was a painful dose of reality that the Mavs gave the Spurs tonight. You guys need to face the facts. Your team is no longer good enough to beat us and Dirk runs all over your D with no problem. Your team isnt physical enough to wear down a stud like Dirk. The truth hurts and it sucks to be told that but facts are facts. The Mavs are just clearly better then the Spurs.

Talk about a homer not facing reality. The teams are fairly evenly matched. If Manu and Parker are just a bit on, Spurs win.

My advice to Manu is that he work on his mid-range jumper during practice and against teams that are in the lower half of the power rankings -- NOT AGAINST OUR DIVISION RIVALS WHEN WE HAVE A CHANCE TO GO UP 2-0 IN THE SEASON SERIES!!

And Vaughn taking shots in key runs is ridiculous. Hey, Pop, why didn't you pull him when that happened?

Oh, good move, Pop...giving Horry and Finley more minutes in the second half when they gave you nothing in the first. Brilliant!!

When that 17 point lead shrunk you were confident your team would win? With their rep i'm sure you had some doubt, you won't admit it but you did.
Like POP said "They did a great job for 48 minutes, we did a great job for a half.''

Why is it that anytime there's expressed disappointment over a loss, somebody whines that people are going nuts?Shutup Shoogar, you know it wasn't just "expressed disappointment." It wasn't as bad as the Game 7 loss last year, that's for sure, but I've read plenty of people going wayyyy overboard about this loss, reading too much into it and analyzing it too closely. I don't want to go back through all the posts from the last 16 hours and find examples, so if you don't agree that's fine, I won't push it with you.

Read my posts. I expressed disappointment. But saying "that fourth quarter lineup was the most retarded shit Pop has ever done" is overreacting or going nuts or whatever.

I was laughing and joking and having a good ole time in the game thread...

Until I saw the Vaughn, Horry, Bowen, Oberto and Finley lineup in the 4th.

Then came the disbelief...then shock....the frustration...then anger...then rage.

IF I ever see that lineup again to start the fourth of a major game, and it's not because Duncan, Barry, Beno, Manu and Parker are all injured, and Finley is in the hunt for the MVP, I will be calling for Pop's head.

Not really, I didn't post anything because I now realize that with Gregg Popovich as our coach and Tony Parker at the point, we will never beat an Avery Johnson-coached Mavs team in a seven game series. Johnson consistently outcoaches Pop and Parker responds to pressure about as well as Keannu Reeves can act. Mnau was off last night as well but watching Tony Parker try and run the offence in the fourth quarter of a close game is like watching Kevin Federline in concert.

No thanks.

If Cuban wasn't such a douchebag, I'd take Dallas to win it all but I can't support that flaming fag.

Unfortunately, since you are a Mavs fan, I can take it out on you... I'm only referencing late-game officiating, in which Dirk wasn't called for an obvious travel and also received 2 FTs after not getting touched by either Horry or Bowen mid-way through the 4th. Then, because Avery Johnson complained about the Duncan 3-shot foul, the refs swallowed their whistles when Dirk bum-rushes Finley.... oh, yeah - Dirk got 24 FTs at one point the playoffs last year and then got 19 more against the Suns - about 75% of those on touch fouls/acting plays... Refs can load up tons of foul calls against the Mavs early in the game, but when it comes to the final few minutes, they get scared of showing up in Cuban's blog...

You know what is wrong? It is due to some Mavs fans who are acting that they totally own the Spurs, that they are the best in the league, that every other team is shit besides their team and that they are the gurus in today's basketball.

Shut up. Know your station. Unless it was the Mavs that showcased the trophy last NBA finals, the bragging rights are not yours.

Know what the truth are? The Heat are still the reigning champions. It is still November to start counting all your eggs. People don't remember runner-ups.

Pulling something out of context to skirt the issue... typical. I notice you didn't address the rest of my post. I guess it's just easier for you to hear what you want to hear. Interesting, especially considering you were the one who said "The truth hurts and it sucks to be told that but facts are facts."

The facts are:
• The series is currently tied, blowing your theory that the Mavs are better than the Spurs.
• Your Mavs had the game completely in hand Friday night and had absolutely no business letting the Spurs get that close at the end. If your team is all that, they should've been able to contain the Spurs during their second half burst.
• You're an idiot.
