...arctic Airmass On The Way For South Central Texas...

The Spring Like Temperatures Of The Last Few Days Will Come To An
Abrupt End Thursday Morning When A Strong Cold Front Moves Across
South Central Texas. This Front Will Usher In An Arctic Airmass
And Result In The Coldest Temperatures Since This Past February.

Rapid Temperature Falls Of Up To 30 Degrees Will Occur With The
Frontal Passage. Temperatures Should Then Remain Steady...however
Some Recovery May Be Possible Later In The Day As The Cloudiness
Decreases. North Winds Of 20 To 30 Mph With Gusts To 40 Mph Will
Develop Behind The Front And Create Wind Chills 10 To 20 Degrees
Colder Than The Temperature. A Wind Advisory May Have To Be Issued
For Thursday.

After Sunset On Thursday...winds Will Rapidly Decrease And Skies
Will Clear. A Hard Freeze Is Likely Across The Hill Country And
Adjacent Areas Of South Central Texas With A Lighter Freeze
Elsewhere Across South Central Texas For Thursday Night Into
Friday Morning. A Freeze Warning Will Likely Be Issued.

The Continuation Of Light Winds...mostly Clear Skies...and A Cold
Dry Airmass Will Lead To A Possibly More Widespread Hard Freeze
Across South Central Texas For Friday Night Into Saturday Morning.

Record Temperatures For The 1st And 2nd Of December Are In The
Mid And Upper 20s At The Climatological Sites Located In
Austin...del Rio...and San Antonio. Some Of These Records May Be
Broken.

During The Next Couple Of Days...persons Should Take Advantage Of
The Warm Temperatures And Make Preparations To Protect Plants...
Pets...livestock...pipes...and Any Other Property Impacted By Cold
Weather.

Listen To Noaa Weather Radio Or Your Local Media For Updates On
This Evolving Cold Weather Outbreak.

Only the breast. But if you stuff the cavity with an onion and jalapeno and then wrap the bird in bacon and grill, it's plenty good.

Two conclusions from that statement:

1. You've fired a gun in anger at something (other animals, radio station propaganda, etc.) during 2006, just not doves.

2. You've fired a gun at doves sometime during 2006, just not in anger.

i find this funny. it was 6 degrees, here in Montana, about 4 hours ago. since i have been up here for about two weeks now...its amazing how quick one adjusts to the cold weather. i was walking to take the trash out without a shirt on earlier when it was 10...felt like nothing.

Eh ... when I looked at the itemized list of all of the options that were included on our house and saw how much all of that pretty extra landscaping cost, you can bet your ass I'll be out there covering my whole damn (teeny :( ) yard with something.

But then I'm a chick, so I guess that's okay. Real men love throwing money down the toilet I suppose. :spin

I worked in central Minnesota back in '94-'95 through, what to me was, one of the coldest winters I've ever experienced. There were plenty mornings that the weathergal would issue an "exposed skin warning" meaning that if it was exposed, you would probably get frostbite on it. And on the 400+ yard walk from the job trailer to the work site, the snot in your nose would freeze.

I came back to San Antonio for Xmas that year and it was something like 45 or so and I was running around in short sleeves as I hadn't seen temps north of freezing for like a month and a half.

We're supposed to have a couple of inches of snow here up north of Dallas ... and of course it's the day I have to take my wife to the hospital for carpal tunnel surgery. We haven't had that much snow in several years.

Then again, knowing the accuracy of the local forecasters, it'll turn out clear and sunny. Right now, though, it's a 90% forecast.

Actually, there are a ton of other reasons that qualify in your case - but the plants thing isn't one of them.

And if anything, PM5K probably had to resort to homosexuality after his classic flame-out with Spurschick.

The latest for Dallas/North Texas :wow

SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR NORTH TEXAS...

LATEST THINKING IS THAT THE ARCTIC FRONT AT THE SURFACE IS MOVING SOUTHEAST FASTER THAN THE MODELS ARE PROJECTING. THE MODELS DO HAVE A GOOD HANDLE ON THE UPPER SUPPORT...WHICH MEANS THAT NORTH TEXAS WILL HAVE THE COLD AIR IN PLACE SOONER THAN PREVIOUSLY EXPECTED AND BUT WILL STILL HAVE STRONG UPPER SUPPORT FOR PRECIPITATION THROUGH TOMORROW AFTERNOON. WE ARE EXPECTING THE FRONT TO REACH MONTAGUE COUNTY JUST AFTER NOON AND REACH THE DFW AIRPORT AREA BY 4 TO 6 PM. THE FRONT WILL HAVE SWEPT ACROSS ALL OF NORTH TEXAS BY 4 AM THURSDAY MORNING.

WE WILL UPGRADE THE FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY TO A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR COUNTIES ALONG AND NORTH OF A GRAHAM...DECATUR...GAINESVILLE LINE. THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF OVER A HALF INCH OF ICE AND UP TO 3 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW IN THIS AREA BY THURSDAY EVENING. GROUND TEMPERATURES ARE QUITE WARM...WHICH IS A MITIGATING FACTOR AND MUCH OF THE FREEZING/FROZEN PRECIPITATION WILL MELT...EXCEPT ON ELEVATED/EXPOSED SURFACES SUCH AS BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.

FARTHER SOUTH...WE MAY NEED TO UPGRADE THE WINTER STORM WATCH TO A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR THE AREA ALONG AND NORTH OF A COMANCHE...WAXAHACHIE... CANTON LINE INCLUDING THE DFW METROPLEX. AS STATED ABOVE...MUCH OF THE FREEZING/FROZEN PRECIPITATION WILL MELT UNTIL THE GROUND CAN COOL OFF... BUT ELEVATED SURFACES WILL COOL MUCH FASTER. THE SOUTHERN EXTENT OF THE WATCH MAY HAVE TO MOVE SOUTH AS WELL. MODELS ARE HINTING THAT THE ATMOSPHERE WILL COOL RAPIDLY THURSDAY MORNING AND BE COLD ENOUGH FOR SNOW BY LATE MORNING OVER THE METROPLEX. SHOULD THAT OCCUR WE WILL HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO PICK UP 1-3 INCHES OF SNOW IN THE DFW AREA BEFORE THE PRECIPITATION ENDS THURSDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING. SNOW AMOUNTS WILL BE LESS FARTHER SOUTH BUT TRAVEL IMPACTS WILL LIKELY BE SIGNIFICANT.

IN ADDITION...THE DRY LINE WILL SWEEP ACROSS NORTH TEXAS AHEAD OF THE FRONT AND SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING SOME SEVERE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS ARE POSSIBLE. WE WILL BE LAUNCHING AN 18Z SOUNDING TO FURTHER ASSESS THE SEVERE POTENTIAL. LAT...LON 3398 9503 3406 9911 3132 9932 3033 9730 3087 9508

They can't drive in the rain during summer either. :lol

I hate the cold weather, the snow, the ice, shoveling the blizzards. I am originally from Ohio and Virginia so I have been there done that. Keep the cold weather north of the Red River.

I remember one year in Lynchburg, Va. we had no school for nearly a month except for a day or two because of winter weather. I am not talking about this stuff that barely covers the windshield......i am talking about snow that buries trucks and cars in the driveway where you wake up in the morning and can barely find. Even though you swear you parked in the driveway the night before.
