I'm sick and at home today and plan on watching possibly the worst regular season moment in Mavericks history at 4pm on ESPN Classic (i mainly just want to see our team from back then, but i'm gonna watch the whole thing). It's December 2002 at Staples Center against the Lakers. The Mavs hadn't won in LA against the Lakers in YEARS, and we were killing the Lakers 88-61 heading into the 4th quarter. Then came one of the biggest choke jobs in Mavs regular season history, and the biggest 4th quarter comeback in NBA history.

It got me to thinking... what is the Spurs worst regular season moment? I know Game 7 last year and .4 of 2004 were bad, but those were playoff games. Just regular season games.

Probably 1999 when the Spurs lost to the Jazz to drop their record to 9-11. Rumors really started to heat up that Pop was going to be fired and replaced with Doc Rivers. Spurs fans also wanted to trade David Robinson.

But yeah, it's kinda tough to remember back to when the regular season mattered.

T-Mac's game winning 50 points in the last 10 seconds of the game back in 2005 was pretty embarassing.

winter of 92.

David Robinson tears a ligament in his hand and is done for the rest of the year.

A potentially good team falls to a mediocre Phoenix team.

During a regular season game in 90-91, we led the Spurs at the end of the 1st quarter by 49-18. That had to hurt.

Yeah when T-Mac decided to put up 578y6578y5 points in 33 seconds and we were actually making MOST of our free throws down the stretch iirc.

Isn't there a Dallas Mavericks forum somewhere? Just wondering out loud.

TMAC's 13 in 35 seconds. That sucked bad. And all the games where TD got injured.

Getting destroyed by the Pistons twice last year was pretty bad for me.

weren't we 6-8 that year when pop was on the hot seat? then we reeled off 9 straight wins and all was right in the land of SA?

I always remember the 6-8 record but I could be wrong

I think the worst regular season moment might've been the T-Mac 13 points in 35 seconds

that was disgusting

You are right.

This just proves what some of us have been suspecting all along:

When it happened, I actually thought when Drob went down with a broken freaking leg in 96 against the Heat was the worst regular season moment. I know we got Timmy out of it, but when it happened, I freaked out.

I was at that game, believe the Spurs only ended up losing by 7 or so that game. Blazers couldn't miss that quarter.

Reminded me of that game where Chris Dudley outscored the LA Clippers 22-21 in the first quarter. Yes Chris "4.something career average" Dudley had 22 points and he almost outrebounded the Clippers too.

Robinson hurting his thumb in ~1992, I think on the rim or the net while going for a block, if I remember correctly. We were at Fatso's watching that game. That sense of the season coming to a premature end.

I had the same feeling watching Duncan's dunk on Pollard on ESPN.

Non injury related, both no-shows against the Pistons last year were pretty embarassing.

Mediocre Phoenix team that won 53 games that year (to your 47)? And then went out and got Barkley and won in Game 6 in SA and went on to the Finals? Just wanted to point out the T Park stupidity in this thread... I wish you would take the blinders off. The year you lost to a mediocre Phoenix team was in 2000 during the title defense when Jason Kidd and Tim Duncan went down and Suns rallied to a 3-1 first round victory on the legs of Kevin Johnson (who came out of retirement 10 days before the series when Kidd went down).

Yeah that 92-93 Suns team was awesome to watch. I'm still bummed they lost to the Bulls in such heartbreaking fashion because I loved Charles Barkley and really wanted to see him win a ring. Anyone remember Richard Dumas that year? He came out of nowhere and then returned there. :lol

Yeah the Spurs only won 47 due to Robinson being out for so long.

But continue your stupidity.
