MannyIsGod
12-03-2006, 11:27 PM
So if Cutler = Plummer, how is this a bad decision? At least Cutler will eventually get better.Because Cutler DOESN'T equal Plummer. As many bad mistakes as Plummer makes, he woudln't have thrown that first INT and he woudln't need this dumbed down playbook they are using. Cutler has detracted from Denver this game.
MannyIsGod
12-03-2006, 11:28 PM
It could be argued that after a few games Cutler may be better than Plummer, but as of right now he's not.

MannyIsGod
12-03-2006, 11:30 PM
The sad part is, that if not for that miracle play, we would have seen how Cutler ended the game. As it was, he didn't have to run the 2 minute offense because of a clinic on horrible tackling.
MannyIsGod
12-03-2006, 11:30 PM
You do know that Cutler is a rookie and this is his first game in the NFL??? :lolNo, fucking, way? Oh, in that case Cutler IS better than Plummer. My bad.

Because Cutler DOESN'T equal Plummer. As many bad mistakes as Plummer makes, he woudln't have thrown that first INT and he woudln't need this dumbed down playbook they are using. Cutler has detracted from Denver this game. There is no such thing as a mistake that Plummer won't make. :lol Do you realize how dumbed-down they already had to make the playbook for Plummer?
Here is something a die-hard Cards fan wrote about Plummer on an e-mail list:
With Plummer he took over and they fired Dick Jamieson and hired Trestman. At some point Trestman was so fed up with Jake's stupidity he advised the cards to expose Jake in the expansion draft(think it was theTexans, might have been the Browns I forget). The Cards responded by firing Trestman. Then they hired Rich Olson, he got the best year yet out of jake, but Jake complained he didn't like the offense, so they changed it, Jake sucked again, and Olson got canned before Jake left for Denver.
I can't tell you how many people I've had tell me stuff about Jake in Arizona or Denver. Darren Urban, Adam Schefter, Mike Jurecki. All of them covered the NFL as reporters and all of them told me stories in email about how stupid Jake was, how he literally drove Trestman and Olson nuts because he would make the same mistake over and over and then say "I gotta stop doing that." Denver is never going to a Super Bowl with Jake Plummer at QB. Why not take a shot?
MannyIsGod
12-03-2006, 11:34 PM
Shoog, no matter how you slice it, Cutler is not better than Plummer right now. If the playbook is dumbed down for him then its absolutely cut to shit for Cutler. There have been 2 picks, but there were at least 3 or 4 other batted balls that could have easily been picked as well.
Cutler looked absolutely horrible tonight.
ShoogarBear

12-03-2006, 11:39 PM
Fair enough, but Cutler did not look ready by a longshot. Rookie QBs will always show flashes of inexperience, but Cutler looked lost the entire game. I was just very unimpressed by him, especially after how I'd heard nothing but how special he was throughout the week.
If this is the way he's going to look, then as sad as it may be for Bronco fans, Plummer is your best bet to win this year.

Though I see points on both sides, the Broncos were winning with Plummer, and I don't see how taking a rook through what is sure to be a painful learning curve helps your team's chances. They were a playoff team w/ Plummer with potential and now unless Cutler takes a Romo-esque run and rails off four straight wins I see them as one-and-done in the playoffs. AFC is just too friggin tough this year to be fucking around in week 13 with a rookie QB.

The point is that with experience, that may not be the way he's going to look.
There's zero chance that Plummer will get them anywhere.Experience? He may not get said experience! He may end up costing them a playoff berth if he has many more games like this. The AFC isn't nearly as wide open as the NFC.
Oh, Plummer > Brunnell. Plummer is bad, but he can string together good games. He did get them to the AFC championship last year. They definetly have a chance to win with Plummer. I don't think its a very big chance, but its definetly not hopeless.
I concede that Cutler may very well improve over the next few games. Look at how Romo bounced back after a horrible 2nd half against the Giants in his first game this year. But he's got a TON of improvement to make in a very short time.

Hey, they were one game away from the SB last year. It wasn't all on Jake, either.
So what changed your mind since last week when you said this was a panic move? Surely not anything you saw on the field today...

Look at Plummer's history: they guy is dumb and doesn't have a professional attitude.
Here's another quote from the Cards fan about him:
And while I'm at it. Jake's first year in Denver he was quoted talking about how much better the Broncos offseason workout program was, the facilities etc. When an Arizona writer called him on it and said how would you know, you never attended offseason workouts as a Card, Jake admitted it was true but said "I heard from others it was a joke." Starting QB, highest paid player on the team, not attending offseason workouts? He admitted last year that he never watched film in Arizona, he used to hold foosball tournaments at his house, he says he has no time for that now he's always watching film, he was very immature as a Card and it wasn't all lack of people to show him the right way, he just didn't care he realized he'd still get paid and they weren't going to bench him or trade him.

only if their coach listens to denver fans instead of actually making a decions based on what is best for the football team not fans

I understand about Plummer's history but why do you no longer think this is a panic move? And no matter how stupid Plummer is (I agree w/ this to an extent) how does a rook on a learning curve make your team better?

plumber was a big reason they went deep in the playoffs last year

So what changed your mind since last week when you said this was a panic move? Surely not anything you saw on the field today...Put the pieces together.
-Coach who has one two Super Bowls
-Team went to AFC Championship game last year.
-Winning record this year and in good shape for the playoffs.
How big of a fuckup do you have to be to have your team and coach bench you in that situation?
Given Plummer's history, sounds like he's back to his usual tricks.

coach has done nothing without john elway
team win to the title game last year WITH JAKE
I am postive plummer was watching film
why
because his contract is coming up soon think!
jake knew cutler was drafted
he knew he better play well
I think he has one more year left but his value is not going to go up if he does not play
so I would think jake would do everything in his power to keep the starting job...

Considering I fell asleep during the game and the last thing I remember was one or two plays following Al Wilson getting carted off (and it was 13-7 Broncos), the Broncos might have bigger problems making the playoffs if one of their defensive leaders is also out for an extended period of time.
Wasn't Wilson's backup inactive tonight, too (I thought that's what I heard).
I'm not saying next week is a must-win, but it's an inch short of that.

Shoog, I bet if I look into the Spurstalk archives, I can find plenty of pots from Spurs Fans complaining about our players and those complaints being largely unfounded.
Thats not to say Plummer doesn't suck, because he does, but I'm not so sure using fan's critiques of him is going to prove many points.
