I would like to see the Utah Jazz make it, and hopefully win it all. They are a hard nosed team, with some great players. The Lakers are looking good as well. Kobe is incredible to watch.

That's what they said last year, but Mavericks choked it away. Heat didn't win based on talent but how they played in the final four games.

Anyway, I think that Utah could make it all the way but it'd be another "fluke surprise team" scenario.

If the Spurs don't make the Fianls, Pop should be fired.

Too much talent and a closing window are not a good combination for an underachieving coach.

Other than Phil Jackson or Pat Riley or an improving AJ, who's better than Pop? Seriously. You can complain about the lack of decent shot-blocking or poor shooting so far from some of the key bench players, but coaches have to learn what they have and what combinations are going to work. The best time to find that out is early. The season is young.

Think.

If dallas make the finals they will win it all, they did choke last year but they are more experienced this time around and have a better team than last season. Not just by who they added in the off-season but quite a few players like harris and howard got better. mainly howard.

adding guys like

Johnson
Croshere
George
Buckner

were very good moves, nothing huge but added good role players.

dallas will beat whoever comes out of the east. Only detroit could give them problems IMO.

I agree. If the Spurs for some crazy reason don't make it to the Finals, I think Mavs have a better chance of winning it all this season. The East is looking a little weaker again, compared to the West. Miami is way too unhealthy, and I'm not sure Wade will have it in him to carry the team to another championship after playing straight through the summer. Magic are looking great, but they're a little young and inexperienced. Pistons are good, but their bench is too weak and I'm still not sold on Flip Saunders. Cavs and Bulls (if they get their act together) are really the only teams I can see making it to the Finals and having a chance to beat whoever comes out of the West.

Either way, it's waaaaaaaaay too early in the season to be guessing and underestimating the Spurs. I stil have my money on them :)

If the spurs don't go, the mavs go, and vice versa

if the mavs do make it this year, I think they win it because of what they learned from last year.

But if neither teams make it, I'd like to see Melo take a shot at the title.

lol, you sound like my ten year old nephew, he didn't even wait to see what happens this season with the spurs, he jumped ship to the rockets before the season started, which is weird since nash has been his favorite player ever since leaving the mavericks...i'm just waiting for him to jump back to being a spurs fan once he realizes they will probably play the mavs in the playoffs

Win or lose... ring or not... the Spurs will always be my team.... Im kind of looking forward to the day when we are rebuilding so all the drama queens and suicide watch people leave this board for another team.

We may not have back-to-back but, and correct me if Im wrong, arent we the only team brought in from the ABA to ever win a title... never mind 3?

I'd want the Clippers to win if the Spurs couldn't.

I didn't say they'd make the playoffs or have a chance at the title. I just said they are the only team that I'd want to win a title, other than the Spurs.

Sorry--I will never support Utah. I still am pissed at the fact they had the dirtiest player in the history of the NBA--Karl Malone--who knocked David Robinson out with an elbow to the temple that was so vicious Malone should have been suspended for the rest of the year.

I am in the minority of Spurs fans who believes that if the Mavs beat us, they deserve the ring and as a Texan, I will support any team from Texas, whether its the Mavs or the Rockets,

But seriously--this season is still in pampers. This talk reminds me of 1999, when people were so pissed off at Pop that people in the media openly speculated at the prospect of Pop being fired in favor of Doc Rivers taking over.

The rest--as they say--is history. That was the year we got our first ring.

Just wanted to make clear, I wont support the Jazz, although they are playing good, but neither will I support The Mavs.... If it where even possible I'd be torn in chosing the Jazz or The Mavs if they faced in a Finals just because, all the way from the owner down to the fans, the Mavs think the NBA revolves around them after just one year of BARELY squeeking by the Spurs and getting manhandled by the joke of the east in the finals.

I love the arrogance. It's not like you guys are guaranteed a spot. You're not even playing the 3rd best b-ball in the west right now. Yes I realize it's only December, and the Spurs will definitely be right there come playoff time, but the attitude that it is going to take some freak occurance to keep the Spurs out of the finals is laughable.

I would normally agree with you as for the longest time I used to loathe the Jazz, but since Malone left my outlook on them has been very different. I applaud Sloan for sticking through some dissapointing rosters and still tryin to make the most of it, whereas I think a lot of coaches would've simply stepped down and not returned until the the team became a title contender again (ahem, Riley)

They are disciplined, work hard, and I wouldn't mind seeing them in the finals at all.

The Lakers, we all obviously hated for the longest time, but for me personally, without Shaq, it's just not the same. I see them as a second tier team and without the threat factor going for them against us anymore, I just don't hate them as much as I used to.

And while my #1 hated team may be the Mavs right now (I'm loving every moment of this rivalry) I'm sure my opinion on them would change once Cuban, Dampier, Terry, Stackhouse, Diop, Harris, and George leave.

I used to hate Nowitzki, but he seems to respect the Spurs, so I'll spare him :lol

This is false. Good to see you reading up on what the Mavs organization says before you say shit like this.

Some Mavs fans are out of their minds, that's for sure...but you're definitely wrong about the players.

If the Mavs beat the Spurs in the playoffs this season, and you say this same thing next season, I'll perhaps agree with you. Until then, I'm gonna keep thinking about that fourth championship ring which is coming this season. The Spurs need a few months to get rolling, but they will, and they'll be ready.

Just like I dont hate the Lakers anymore, I dont hate the Jazz. I just like watching basketball. Both of those teams are entertaining. I find the Dallas Mavericks AND their fans rather boorish. It's all a matter of envy. The Spurs have been the best overall team in ALL OF SPORTS for several years and will be right up there for several more years to come. I have been a fan since '91 when I moved to SA from Arlington, TX. I will always be a true Spurs fan.

Suns ; they've had a slow start because they were trying hard to get Amare involved in the offense ; they haven't found their rythm yet, but it will happen.
Remember, they reached the WCF last year without Amare, and they lost in 6 games to Dallas.
Of course, they have to be healthy, and Boris Diaw has to lose some weight ; they'll need him badly
