Anyone out there with an iPod? I have a list of over 1000 songs (all from CD's I purchased... I did NOT download anything and can prove it if someone wants to see my collection).
Rock, Metal, Alternative, hip hop and industrial.
What is your music of Choice and how many songs do you have and what CD's do you not have loaded if any?
Im not offering anything, just curious..... :devil

I love all that music I paid for on iTunes ... and when I decided that the iPod sucks total ass and sold it to buy an iRiver ... I couldn't use any of that music I paid for!
Between Chris & I, we probably have somewhere around 10-15,000 songs.

Can't you use a 3rd party program to make the iTunes songs useable by another player?

It depends on what I have in my walkman. Why would anyone need 10,000 songs?
I just have a cheap MP3 player. Am I out of the loop?

To me, the ipod kills everything on the market, because it's the only one I've seen that you can use as both a hard drive and a portable player while holding a massive music collection. It's nice to be able to listen to any song I own at any reasonable time that I want to (ie, I'm not busy at work or in the shower or something). If I had a smaller mp3 player I know I'd wish I bought the 80GB ipod when I'm really in the mood to hear a song I couldn't fit on it.

I have 20gb of Classic Rock and Metal, and I paid for almost none of it. And I can't prove that.

30 gig, almost maxed out.
I have everything from Johnny Cash to African Drum music to House to Bananarama.
As I've said before, I have a very short attention span when it comes to music. I should have a playlist called "ADD"

In my younger days I'd be all hyped up about the IPod craze but my cheap ass can't dish out that much jack for a toy. I can't remember the last time I listened to music through headphones. But I know they kick ass.
But if I did it'd be loaded with classic rock!

I can't remember the last time I listened to music through headphones.
I've never even listened to mine through the headphones and I've had it since June. Usually it's plugged into my home stereo for house parties or in my truck for road trips.
Mine is almost always in the car, I have a direct connection with steering wheel audio controls, but I'm looking to get one of those radios/alarm clocks with the dock, and maybe another iPod....

I'm so far behind the times its pitifull. I don't even know how to play poker either. I'm also running on Windows 98.
This will be the gayest thing I've ever said but an iPod party would be cool, or just everyone bring them at a GTG and have some computers setup so people could swap music...

I just carry a small flash player around. Makes no sense to carry around 1500 hours of music if I just listen an hour at a time or so.

26 C.D., the reason I have so few is because Im rebuilding my collection after my car got broken into, which prompted me to get the iPod so I dont have to leave CD's in the car, can just stick the iPod in my pocket and not worry about it. :madrun
I know its wierd to carry all those CDs in a car but thats about the only time I listen to them... had like 5 cases of CD's in my backseat :lol

Jeez, I have around 800 songs on 30GB or so, and I only have a little more hip hop left to add. I bought my first "video", last week's "The Office" I missed it due to the Ravens/Bengals game. I use my Ipod everyday and the solitaire that I play just before bed will cause my eyesight to weaken night by night.

OK, Now I know your on drugs or something, your giving me shit because I only have about 1000 songs (which equates to around 2 1/2 days of continuous play so far, I still have several CD's to go) and yet you only listen to songs an hour at a time? :dizzy

I think my 3-year-old iPod has finally crapped out. Every time I try to transfer music from iTunes it freezes up unless I do it a few songs at a time (and even then it still freezes sometimes).

Does it making any weird clicking sounds?
Does it lock up when it's attached to your computer's USB port?

It hasn't made clicking sounds, but the iPod screen freezes when it's transferring songs from iTunes. I transfer over Firewire. I usually have to disconnect it and wait for the battery to die before I can plug it back in and use it.

Sounds like it could be a USB problem. It has to deal with the chipset of the laptop or PC you're connecting to.
Try another machine, with a known good chipset.

i would like to thank you for answering my question, even though it was 9 months ago and i completely forgot about it. i figured out its easiest for me to just create a folder of the music to put on my friends computer and store it on the harddrive part of the ipod. And i have 10.36GB of music on my 30 gig ipod.
