Milwaukee, WI -- Bucks waive goodbye to former first-round pick

The Milwaukee Bucks waived forward and former lottery pick Marcus Haislip on Wednesday.

Haislip, who was the 13th overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft, averaged just 3.6 points with 1.5 rebounds in 70 games over the past two seasons. The Tennessee product was expected to earn over $1.6 million this year, the final year of his rookie contract.

However, lack of minutes and getting caught in a numbers game at the forward position led to the inevitable move by the club.

"Marcus gave us a good effort, but unfortunately the minutes weren't there for him," said Harris. "We thank Marcus for his contributions on and off the court and we wish him well."

Haislip did not play in the Bucks' season opener at Orlando and was buried on the bench behind Toni Kukoc and Zaza Pachulia, backups to starter Keith Van Horn.

With the release of Haislip, Milwaukee's active roster stands at 11 players. Milwaukee's next game at home versus Cleveland.
