The Spurs proving that they are not championship material tonight at Staples. Getting outworked, outclassed and outhustled by a far less talented team.

When Kwame Brown dominates Tim Duncan like he has tonight, we better hope we don't see this team in the playoffs because they will beat us.

less talented but exellently well coached team, they are plating really good this year,

Well I expected more from my Spurs! They played so great in the previous games, they didn't handle the ball well enought! They could have easily beat the Lakers with 50% FG.
I wish I didn't get up a 3 am to watch this game and that the Spurs won't lose twice in a row because of back to back drama!

Walton Buys Off Me
12-10-2006, 11:52 PM
Parker wasn't the problem tonight.

Duncan may have had a statistically decent night but he was outworked by Kwame Brown down the stretch and that cannot happen if the Spurs want to win a title.

This one's on Duncan for playing like his typical bitch self and on Pop for sticking with Finley way too long.

Our interior rebounding and defense were downright terrible

but as time wears on, I don't know if its aging or what, but Pop's substitution patterns have to be at the absolute bottom of the league

Just when Pop seems to get off of Horry's jock when Horry plays sketchy, he gives a huge bulk of the minutes to michael needs to retire finley!

I was amazed he even bothered to start TD off in the 4th

The last few minutes of the 3rd quarter was probably the worst stretch of "Spurs Basketball" I have seen this entire season

The Spurs just got destroyed in the paint. Duncan didn't do anything defensively and Pop played small ball too long.

This game makes me sick of Finley. Enough already. Let Barry play. Even if you want to play Barry as Tony's backup too. That's fine.

i thought you'd be the last to say anything negative about finley.

i agree 100% with everything.

watching finley, he looks hesitant and settles too much for the 3 ball and misses those. he missed some really open shots. the 1st quarter missed layup when he was right at the rim sums up michael finley's future in the nba.

Give credit to the Lakers. That stretch in the 3rd quarter where they took over, they trapped the hell out of Manu and Tony and then capitalized on their turnovers. Spurs transition D (and interior D) in general sucked, but the Lakers did what they need to do. I like Bynum a lot.

Pop's substitutions were horrible though, Fin/Beno/Bonner's 2-for-16 wasn't necessary. If Fin is going to keep getting minutes, he needs to stop shooting so much. But unfortunately his handles suck, so he is not useful for much else.

Unless Barry is hurting or something, there's no reason why he can't be getting the the bulk of the backup PG and swing minutes right now.

I've been complaining about Finley for a month. When a shooter can't shoot, then he doesn't need to work out of his slump in critical moments in a game. Let him stay after practice and shoot 1000's of shots. Or if you want him to get game time, he should have been in during the 4th quarters in the last 3 blowouts. He has no business going 2-for-10 and starting.

Well, I'm glad I didn't watch this game but judging from the boxscore, I agree with what Kori says. Duncan only managed one block (the only one for our whole team!) and we got destroyed in the paint.

4pts and 6rebs from our centers in 26 minutes??? That's horrible, and it isn't the first time neither Elson or Oberto has come to play. It seems its feast or famine with these guys.

And what the eff is Finley doing jacking up 10 shots in 24 minutes? Not to mention he only made 2 of them. Beno looks to have sucked hard as well.

I think they have some recourse with Spaulding because the players are actually getting cut up. For example, Nash's fingers are so scraped up that he has to bandage them on off days and in practice. I think the league will work something out, because the player's union has a legitimate beef now. It's not just the weird bounces or the ball sticking, if a player is getting scraped up, then that's different.

What I don't get is that the new balls are all supposed to be uniform, so if someone asks for a ball to be switched out during a game (because it's sweaty or sticky or whatever) then that was supposed to happen. But then I read Pop asked for a switch in a game last week and he was denied.

Actually, the run that killed the Spurs was the last 4 1/2 minutes of the third quarter...and that was with TP and Manu in the backcourt when much of the damage was done. TP had 2 TOs and Manu had 4. That's when the Spurs had a 5 point lead and that's when 5 out of the Lakers' next 6 FGs were 3-point plays, including 4 trips in a row. The Spurs blinked and went from 5 up to 7 down without scoring a point. Then Beno came in and didn't help them much either.
