My pick for favorite kids' series are the Harry Potter books and the Artemis Fowl series, but seeing as how one is about witches and wizards and the other is about a child genius/criminal I'm guessing those are out, since you're looking for things like bible stories ...

Can't go wrong with Roald Dahl - I loved the BFG and Mathilda. Cornelia Funke's Inkheart was really good, but it will likely be more towards the 10yo range than 2.

Is this spam? Anyway, my kids are little and love the Sandra Boynton books (Moo Baa La La La, Barnyard Dance, etc). My son loves Sheep in a Jeep and anything by Dr Seuss, of course.

Reading that first post again, I think so.

Oh, well, we can use it to our advantage.

I wouldn't put any of the books I read on a list, looking back on it. But thanks for throwing that me.

Young Kids ...
Dr. Seuss
Curious George
Little Bear series (by Elsa Holmelund Minarik)
Golden Books

After age 7 or so, it depends on their preferences.

Shi-ii-ii-i--ii-iii-ii-iit ... I couldn't read or write until I was like ten years old. So by that time it was too late to read children's books.

Oh, it's ALL about Captain Underpants!

My 11 year old likes the Rotten SchoolHouse series.

Both kids were avid readers of the Berenstain Bears books
