One more thing. I you have some free time get out of Milan - it's probably the ugliest part of that region. A one hour drive gets you into much nicer country.

btw Venice is a 3 to 3,5 hours drive from Milan.

Of course that would bring you dangerously close to Slovenia... :p:

No way, he got layed. A buddy of mine went over there last year with a couple of other guys and they said that the women were beautiful. The high dollar prostitutes that they hooked up with were drop dead gorgeous and worth the 1-2 k that it cost them for the evening. He said his lady was from Columbia, btw, which surprised me, since it is so far away.

You know TPark could not have resisted that.

Fuck Italy. Long live The Netherlands.Italy is not nor has it ever been a socialist country.

Italy is one of the 7 most developped (rich) industrial countries in the world so I suppose they have to get things done once in a while. I will agree that the work discipline in Italy is somewhat unique, I have never perceived them as pricks or even unfriendly. Have you ever allowed for the possibility that you're part of the problem?

I hope you finished what you came over to do - it would be a shame to fail just because of a difference of character. Btw I hope you had a good interpreter (or that you speak Italian) because that's a given for doing business in Italy (and a few other countries too).

Anyway if you need any assistance for doing business in Italy, I have quite a few good business contacts in that country - just let me know.

Edit:
P.S. And you're awfully quick (again) trashing a whole nation based on a 2 day visit...

I guess the guy that lived there for 12 years has no idea what hes talking about. If that's his claim I guess not.

First of all I'm still waiting for someone to explain me what socialism is. As a political system it doesn't exist. The only definition I could ever find is a socialist agenda or political program - that hardly makes any country socialist - it can only make a government socialist, the same way your government is either democrat or republican. Which means that if they're in charge they are so by the will of the people who voted for them.

The rules saying that gas stations have to all charge the same amount of money for gas, ordered by the govt?

Thats not socialist what so ever.If that's the standard, then there's a lot of those socialists in the world on both sides of the Atlantic. Oh and btw, why don't you ask your knowledgeable friend why are gas prices in the Venezia Friuli Julia region of Italy different from the rest of the country. You might be surprised to find out it's the results of a specific market situation.

And finally gas prices are regulated in many countries (and highly taxed) for reasons that I'm not going to explain in here, but the main rational behind it is that gas is a national commodity and part of the national infrastructure similar to roads, water supply or electric power. The way we handle those in Europe is fundamentally different from what you do in the US - but I didn't know we were required to do things the way you do.

TPark you are a visitor over here - behave like one.

I hope you get laid in Amsterdam, maybe you'll lighten up a bit.

One thing TPark probably does not like in Italy is that he can not get a table to sit at. Italians are never in a hurry to leave a table and they are never hurried along by the establishments. TPark probably just gets pissed off as the locals linger at a table hour after hour, in no hurry to move, while his stomach growls incessantly.

:)

That is one thing that I find odd, Italians are never in a hurry to do anything, until they get behind the wheel, they they drive like crazy people who are rushing to get from point A to point B....that is funny, I think.

Driving in Italy is the worst. They'll turn on any color at any given time. I got into a nice accident in my cousin's car last summer.

Dude just turned left out of nowhere and I t-boned him at 30 mph. Stuck in the middle of the intersection, dude figured out we were American, hopped back in his truck and took off. Two cops and two EMTs saw it all, asked if we were OK and left us in the middle of a busy intersection. Thank God the car still ran...

Oh what fun it was to tell my cousin...

It's an acquired taste and skill.

Mind telling me in which town it happened? Because as bad as the driving generally is there are levels to it depending where in the country you are. Napoli in my opinion is the Italian champion. A friend of mine told me without laughing, while barely avoiding a car that drove through a red light in Napoli: "You know a red light in Napoli is not really the law - it's more like an opinion..." :lmao

It's an acquired taste for sure. I lasted 30 minutes driving in Rome. My cousin just laughed at me and said I had no idea how to really drive.

This accident happened in Rimini, right where you come into town from San Marino(I believe it is SS72 if I remember correctly).

My cousin has a Ducati and asked if I'd like to take a ride. Sure, no problem I thought, wearing flip-flops shirts and a T shirt. Nice spin through San Marino, right? Hell no. He proceeded to hit 180 kph on the roads up to San Marino. Scared the fuck out of me. Then the crazy fucker stops at a bar in Citta where we downed several Becks, Grappas, etc.

Last time my dumb American ass gets on a cycle....

Rimini is good for the beach because it close to where I stay, Riccione for the night life/eye candy/food, and San Marino is nice because it's where my whole family is from.

A lot of people aren't to fond of the San Marinese apparently because of their snobby attitudes. It's funny, twenty years ago it was still a very poor country. It's like night and day, now.
