Walton Buys Off Me

I want to see this guy get over this. Not just because he's a Spur but he's a class act, a true professional and I'm tired of commentators and talking heads saying it's the end of the road for Finley. This guy was one of our best players last year in the playoffs and he WILL overcome this slump.

Walton is offering one of his infamous guarantees that Michael Finley, starting with the second half of tonight's game, will break out of his funk.

Who's behind him?

:reading That's what I've been saying all along. Michael Finley will eventually settle down. And with the old leather ball coming back it may come sooner than expected. :reading

Findog will be back. He needs some tough love from Pop before he gets back on track though.

Been here all along.... Unlike most people I still remember the second half and the playoffs of last season. I admit I'm frustrated with his shooting but he will get there.

He will get there.

This sounds like a good thing, especially since we know Walton would never turn on a Spur.

I believe in lining up and supporting all the players on the team--but unless he "cowboys up" pretty fast, this promises to be a very short line.

Strange how so many of his shots are in and out....
Makes one wonder if it's something to do with this new ball, and the kind of rotation he puts on the ball?
Guess if in January, those same shots start falling, we'll know...

Finley is in a slump just like Bones used to be. He'll come around soon enough, same as Horry.

He plays for the Spurs, I want him to do well.

But seriously, how long? Quarter of the season is gone, and little improvement. At what point does he sit in favor of playing our other bench guys more and getting them more exposure in the system come game time?

I hope he comes out of it - you are right about him being a class act. But if he doesn't come out of it, I hope everyone (including Pop and Finley) make the best decision for the team in time to mean something (rather than repeating NVE).

He wears the silver and black, and I'll back up any player who wears the colors. Finley will get back in the swing of things, only a matter of time.

As Spurs fans, we all want him to do well. But how long and how many minutes does Pop need to give this guy? At some point, you've got to realize when a guy is hurting the team because he's NOT the same player he once was.

As I've said many times here, unless Fin's shot is falling he's of little to no use to the team because at this stage of his career he doesn't have a lot of other tools in his arsenal.

everyone here including me is confused as to what we want from Finley. Pop is even confused as to what he wants from him. Finley is never gonna be the same old when he was w/mavs thats a fact. I will bet $ on it.

All we can expect from Finley is some kind of performance as last years playoffs and that is not good enough for me. it was not good enough to get past the mavs.

Finley is finished and is taking us down w/him.

I love to see Fin get back on track with his long ball but I think instead of fadeaways, he should try to attack the rim & get to the foul line more...looks like he's got a bad case of Turkoglu-itis.

ShoogarBear

Now Finley is the reason we lost to the Mavs?

Finley did exactly what we wanted for him to do against the Mavs; in fact other than TD he is the only player who really can hold his head high.

I did not say that. I said what Finley did for us vs Mavs was not good enough for me and obviously not good enough for Spurs since we got beat. If it was good enough for you, good for u

ShoogarBear

What Parker and Manu and especially Horry and the centers did against the Mavs was not good enough for the Spurs. What Finley did was plenty good enough to beat them.

cheguevara
12-12-2006, 02:13 PM
we had centers vs mavs?

If we gonna blame on individuals I'd blame first Pop, then NVE, Horry, Parker.

Manu and TD were the reasons we took the mavs to 7 games.

My point was that I was expecting more from Finley, even last year at playoffs he was not near the quality player he was the previous year.

What the hell?!? Finley was great for SA. He went above and beyond what they needed from him against the Mavs. If he plays like that again in the playoffs I will be more then happy. Some people just dont get it I guess.

Well, if you're going to hate, might as well hate without reason:

Finley's series stats vs. Dallas:
37 MPG 52% FG 36% 3P 100% FT 10.6 pts, 4.7 rebs

In last four games after moved to starting lineup:
45 MPG 56% FG 41% 3P 100% FT 13.5 pts 6 rebs

The legs are the first thing to go on an athlete and especially true of basketball players because of the demands of the sport in running and jumping. So forget about him attacking the rim.
