Could it be? Do the Spurs really have the best record going into tonight's game??

You'd think that couldn't be possible with all the whining here about how much Duncan or Barry or Parker or Finley or Oberto or Beno or whoever sucks.

No, they're a pretty solid team. The posters here just demand perfection! A championship is never a sure thing, but people here wish they could just go ahead and hang that fourth banner up in the AT&T Center regardless.

We've only had one losing season since David Robinson came in back in 89, so expectations are kinda high around here.

Best record in league hardly guarantees a title.

When "wanting to improve" can be twisted to automatically mean "whining" it begets the question to you that do you want to see the Spurs be the reg season best record darlings only to get beat in the playoffs.

Reg season should be nothing more then a long prelude to the playoffs.
Preparing accordingly is smart hoop.

more impressive than the suns run thouggh

suns are runnin into scrub teams or teams playin on b2bs, and they barely got out of playin the heat without wade and shaq, pretty much says it about there team.

I actually feel a bit better this season with the Pistons than I did last season with that crazy start they had.

Last year I just kept thinking there's no way they can keep this up and once the playoffs hit they just seemed so out of gas.

This year it looks like they are just going with the flow and ready to make the playoffs and go from there.

Also after the Nets game last night, our bench actually looks a little promising. Hope they get the chance to keep playing. who knows with Big Flip though.

The Spurs IMO are still the favorites in west no matter what happened the previous year as long as Duncan and Parker stay healthy. Duncan's too much a match for anyone in this league when he is healty and damn Parker is quick to the basket.

damn, it's a conspiracy.

NBA has still not updated standings to show Spurs at 19-6/4W, when NBA.com usually has that done by business hours next day EC time.

Spurs fans are spoiled. Anything less than a win is a disgrace.

more impressive than the suns run thouggh

suns are runnin into scrub teams or teams playin on b2bs, and they barely got out of playin the heat without wade and shaq, pretty much says it about there team.

You are the biggest hater in the world. Good lord. You bitch that the Suns play their "starters in scrub minutes" in about every thread on this message board. Then, they play their scrubs against the Heat appease you and the Heat's scrubs outplay them and come back from a 24 point deficit. So, you then bitch that the "Suns barely got past them." Make up your mind, you prick. It wasn't until D'Antoni had to bring his starters back-in that they were able to stop the run and get the victory (Marion even said, "I was sure we were done for the night, but we didn't close the deal").

Secondly, so much has been made of the Suns 14-game winning streak and the lack of quality opponents during that stretch. But if you look at the numbers the Suns aren't doing anything different than... let's say the Spurs.

Phoenix is 17-6 overall and are 13-1 versus teams with losing records, while they are 4-5 versus teams with winning records. San Antonio is 19-6 overall and inside the numbers are 15-1 versus teams with losing records and (*GASP*) 4-5 versus teams with winning records. So the Suns and Spurs should be given credit for winning the games they are supposed to win. That is why those teams are amongst the best in the NBA.

Where the Spurs succeed more is that their bench comes in and keeps leads, so the Spurs don't have to keep logging way too many minutes for their starters. If D'Antoni had his way, he would keep his starters rested, but the bench just can't be trusted to score and defend at all these days.

The benches of the Suns opponents, so far, have been full of a lot of young, high-energy guys who come in and want to prove something. The Suns bench is an old group consisting of Sean Marks, Pat Burke, Jalen Rose, Marcus Banks (not old, but playing very tentative), and Eric Piatkowski. These guys just go through the motions and sometimes it costs the Suns big leads.

Oh, and btw, douchenuts - the Suns have played the most back-to-backs in the league so far, so they aren't just capitalizing on teams that come off B2B's!!!
