After reading some very questionable ratings about our PG's in other threads, I'm curious as to what some of you are expecting from them this year.
I've already seen people bagging on Beno even though he had the offense running smoothly. On the other hand, you still have folks giving Parker a break even though he was a terrible 3-16 shooting.
I guess my real question is, at what point does the excuse train stop for Parker? And why doesn't Beno get the same ride Parker has received on said train for so many years?

Beno hasn't received criticism for his performance. He's been criticized for being soft as charmin, a reputation gained because he gets hurt often. In addition, seemingly minor injuries really appear to bother him. He's been criticized because he allegedly lacks toughness.
I haven't seen him play, so I can't really tell you what I think yet.
If Beno stays healthy, plays tough, and continues to get the job done, he'll get props.

I'm not talking to the guys that label Beno soft. I'm talking about the ones that are telling us that Beno looked "unimpressive" when he clearly had the offense running smoothly. Parker on the other hand gets his usual free pass.
Whatever the case may be, Parker homers can't use the "he's still young and inexperienced" crap anymore. He has enough NBA experience now to get the job done now.

ESPN commentators on Beno halfway through the 2nd quarter tonight: "pretty impressive so far."
My thoughts exactly. I think some of my fellow Spurs fans have a lot to learn about basketball. This guy is legit.

Gee ICB, what did you think about Parker?

Parker's game speaks for itself, if anyone on this thread argues otherwise they are total fools. And as for Beno, man he is a rookie in the NBA from a Euro League... how about a little grace period??? He has got a monsterous bounce pass and he can see ANY open man on the court. He is gonna be an integral part of this Spurs organization for years to come.

Hey Ice,
Parker had a great game. He scored effectively, and more importantly, had 2 very good passes to a man in the paint from the top of the key in traffic. It has been a while since I have seen TP doing that. I am perfectly fine with his performance today. http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/smielephant.gif
Beno also played very well today, he run the point smoothly, and was perfectly integrated in the flow of the offense. http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/smismokin.gif
To answer your question, things look very good at the PG position thus far. We will have to wait to see how things evolve; but so far, so good. http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/smiafro.gif

Total domination.
