I live in Southeast Missouri, so I don't get any of your local channels. The only time I get to see a Spurs game is if it's on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, or TNT. I keep up with the games on the computer. Last night Elson had a block, 4 rebounds, and 9 points I beleive. 9 points from one of our centers is great in my mind. My question is did he look like he knew the system, was he setting picks correctly, ect?
He seems to be getting to know the system ok, he was out of position a few times last night. He left Gasol wide open a couple of times down low. It will take some time for him to know the defensive system inside and out, but it will come. He looked good on the offensive side of the floor though. He is only going to get better as the season goes on.

His defense was horrible last night, countless times he left either Gasol, Swift or Warrick wide open under the basket. The numbers may look good but watching the game last night, he was really pissing me off. He just didn't seem focused on that end of the court.

"he was out of position a few times last night."
He was so horrible on defense in the first few possessions of 1st qtr last night, should have been wearing a Grizz uniform.
He's got all the athletic ability, like Nazr, and amazingly light-footed and quick, but he's another Big who is weak on basketball fundamentals, like Nazr. Without those fundamentals, BB IQ, and game sense, he's hampered trying to pick up the Spurs system, just like Nazr was. ie, not knowing how to play generic basketball, he's having a harder time learning how to play Spurs basketball.
Of course, the good body and bad head allows the Spurs to hire him.
With a good body and good head, he'd be somebody else's $$franchise $$player. :lol
I love the guy, and the surprise he represents, and he really does help, but he's got a long way to go. His great athleticism is getting him by, but those dumb, bemused "what's goin on?" looks on his face sometimes makes me think he doesn't have a clue.

I think Elson will get it eventually and he will be great if he can. Even though he slips up on defense, he has tremendous athletic ability. There have been times where his man gets right past him for a seemingly uncontested layup or dunk and Elson flies out of no where and blocks it.

When in together with Duncan think 2005 Champs.
Much tougher interior D when he and Duncan combine, as opposed to 2006 Smallballs or last night games end with Finley at the PF in what timvp rightly calls "Nellieball." (Fin hit his shots last night earlier tho :clap )
12-0 when Elson plays 20+ minutes. At least that's what i count. Kori can verify it for sure.
Which is not to say he is not missing assignments and getting worked occassionally under the rim. He is. Just like in 2005 when the haters will try to spew Nazr and Barry sucked, Elson is occassionaly "sucking".
If you want another suck Championship, Elson/Duncan Bowen GNob Parker Bones Fabs hotFinley will do it.

Someone told me how to find and listen to the game broadcasts on the internet. It works great. Go to www.thegamelive.com (http://www.thegamelive.com) I've found it's easier to get connected if I click on the website link and then find and click on the listen live link. WOAI is the hardest to find.
Just passing along the favor. :wakeup

Is he doing a better job starting than oberto?

He is a lot more athletic than Oberto, but I don't know if I would say he is doing a better job starting at this moment. He is still learning the system and is going to make defensive mistakes until he becomes more comfortable in it. Oberto has a year of playing for Pop under his belt and knows the system better, so in that aspect, I think Oberto is better. But give Elson more time and I don't think you will be able to tell the difference or he might even be better than Oberto.
I do love watching Elson run the court. He has unbelievable speed for a guy his size.

Good question. I thought it was more like 6-0.
A fair amout of games where he did not start he still got more minutes in the 1st half then Fabs.

Depends sometimes on who we are playing on who is doing better. Vs teams that require us to be Tall, Elsons height and wingspan do far more then Fabs, even an "in the system" Fabs. Other games Fabs has been fine, most notably the 11-11 coma game.
Will be interesting to see if all three are ever on the court in the playoffs.
I do not believe it has to be an "either Fabs or Elson" the whole 48 minutes vs every single opponent.

TRUE, IF BOTH OF THEM ARE PLAYING GOOD THEN OF COARSE LET THEM SHARE THE MINS. THAT WAY THE NEXT GAME WE HAVE A FRESH CENTER NO MATTER WHO STARTS.
OH AND THANKS 4 THE WEBSITE WILDBILL, I'M HERE AT EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE IN FLORIDA AND WE DONT GET ANY GAMES SO THAT'S A LIFE SAVER!
