Alot of people are speculating about moves the Spurs may make before the trading deadline in February.

If they can't pull off any trade--how far can we realistically go in the playoffs?

All the way.

It's not like this team sucks.

Anything can happen.

The Spurs are simple. If they do not outrebound a ,500 team consistently, they never will win more than 2 playoffs series. If they do not play tough D, they rely too much on 3pt shooting. If they are too dependent on Duncan, it hurts team chemistry. At this time they couldn't win much.

As of right now, the Spurs are playing like first round fodder. If they can start playing any type of defense, they can be good.

But right now they just keep getting worse and worse defensively . . .

Its too damn early to be talking about playoffs. You cant tell how any team will be in the postseason based on a few months of play. Ask that question a few weeks after the ASG, where the picture will be a lot clearer.

I think it time for POP to step up.

He is the Coach, if he can't get the current players, to improve on defense and
rebounding, than a trade is the first order of business.

If Spurs don't start playing great defense come playoff time they'll lose in the WC semis to a team like Phoenix who is greater at offense, or at best the Spurs will reach the WC Finals. If the Spurs play top notch defense they could be fighting for the championship in the Finals. This is assuming that their are no key injuries.

Too bad they couldn't lure Reggie Evans away from the Nuggets...

Hahahahahahaha.
This board cracks me up. We are a half a game away from being the top seed in the NBA, and were the top seed until the loss to the Bucks. That's after 30 games, and everyone knows the Spurs NEVER play their best ball till the second half of the season. Certainly Pop, Duncan, and Bowen know we're not playing our best ball yet -they just said as much after the last game.

In a few weks their D will tighten up, they'll stop trying to coast through games after building up a big lead, or digging themselves a hole early. In other words, they'll start playing all 48 minutes of Spurs basketball. They haven't done that yet, and there's only a handful of teams they can get away with that against and still win.

I'm not worried. Spurs have the best team in the league and should be able to win another championship come June.

Our chances are very good. We don't have a match for Josh Howard and Devin Harris probably goes to the rack with ease again, but we're still a top team by any metric.
