View Full Version : Would you trade Brent Barry for Morris Peterson straight up?

Peterson is in his final contract year, and Barry has one more year left. The trade would work under the league rules, so lets hear from the board on Yes or No, and Why or Why Not?

peterson has more value, dont think raptors want garbage in return

I wouldn't. There's no telling MoPete could impact the team the way Barry has, and with losing him this summer, we'd lose one of our better assets -- a decent, professional shooting guard with an expiring contract.

If it aint broke dont fix it.
Unless it's Maggette. :)

Barry for Peterson, probably not
Barry-Udrih for Peterson-Calderon, maybe
Barry-Udrih-Scola rights for Peterson-Calderon-Graham, yes

Mo Pete is better than Barry in my mind. It's always nice to have a shooter off the bench though.

The thing I think is funny is people keep bringing up "Scola's rights" as if they have ANY value to ANY team in the league. People, teams in this leag don't give a flying
@#$% about Scolas rights.

Precisely. If they did, they would have been dealt a LONG time ago.

Barry-Udrih-Scola rights for Peterson-Calderon-Graham, yes
Hell, why stop there? Why not throw in Javtokas' rights and see if we can get Chris Bosh from them, too!
This one is right up there with the Finley-for-Maggette propositions.

You're right, but I would think IF there was a team that knew his value, other than the Spurs, it would be the Raptors with Colangelo and Gherardini with their ties to the Euroleague.

A bit over-the-top don't you think?
Are Graham and Calderon really THAT important to the Raptors' success? Their relative production on that team would suggest otherwise. While I get your point, I think your sarcastic Bosh comment is an overreaction.
Do I think it's gonna happen, No. But I was suggesting what I thought would be fair enough return for the Spurs to make the deal happen.

Read my post in the Scola MVP thread. I agree with your comments that Spurs Fans overhype his trade value, but what else do the spurs have to offer(I suppose I could've said a "second round pick")?

I'd rather have Desmond Mason or Corey Maggette

If we're as bad as some on this board think we are, Mo isn't going to help.

Mo Pete = perfect Bowen understudy. I would do it in a second if I was the Spurs, but then Toronto isn't that stupid, Babcock is gone already.

Desmond Mason? Have you ever "watched" Desmond Mason? He is not the answer.

I've never been a fan of Herpes Peterson. Plus it seems as though he's finally breaking down a little bit.

A perfect understudy to me would mean someone younger than 30.

No.
Barry understands his role. Far from being able to understand it and without the benefit of having endured a round of Pop Training Camp, I'm not too sure Mo Pete would even accept Barry's role.

add finley to that. He sucks so almost nobody will want him and Spurs will prefer not to trade him cause that would be messed up.

I'm inclined to say yes, no matter what the circumstances were. But the Clips wouldn't take it.
