Dismay? No way... as the days passed I lost hope we would sign him. With McCarthy we really only have one more hole to fill in our rotation. But I am glad he didn't go to the Mets. NY fans have a sense of entitlement that kills me.
BTW, JMark... Clemens will go to the Red Sox before he goes to NY methinks. Just a hunch but I don't see him going back. He would retire first.

I was hoping texas would land him, but hes not worth that kind of money. We should go after Tomo Ohka from the brewers or Rick helling, aaron sele, ramon ortiz, tony armas, cuz mark mulder doesnt excite me sense he wont be back till the all star break.

I hope not. Arizona needs Randy. His numbers going from the AL to NL should improve (maybe not as much, but still should improve) the way Clemens' and Pedro's did when they switched over. I read where going from the AL to NL is worth anywhere from half a run to one full run off their AL ERA. Facing less offensive productive catchers and a pitcher seven to eight times a game really helps older pitchers. Remember Randy's last year in the NL? It was arguably his greatest year as a playerPERIOD. That was at 40 or so. I think he can be a very good #3 or a good #2 pitcher behind Webb for the next two or three years.
I'm hoping Pettite going to the Yanks will pull Clemens the way it did in Houston. In fact, I'm counting on it. Right now, apparently the Yanks are eyeing one of the Diamondbacks best minor league pitching prospects plus an additional one they just acquired from the Brewers plus a current major leaguer while asking the Diamondbacks to pay for all of Randy's contract.
That's not smart for the Diamondbacks. If the offer goes from one or two minor-leagers, with only one of them being prefered, then I see it getting done. If not, it'll be another long season for the Diamondbacks.

I'm a Mets fan and I'm pissed as well. The Giants have nothing but a bunch of money. Guess it was too good to pass up.

I too have been a long time Mets fan allways liked them. The Tigers were second to me I am a NL guy. That being said I think they way overpaid for him in a much to long deal. Zito never wanted to leave the Westcoast he is very laid back almost hippie like.
