(Sports Network) - The San Antonio Spurs try to start a new season with three straight wins for the first time since 2000-01, as they visit Ray Allen and the Seattle SuperSonics at KeyArena.
San Antonio has dominated against Seattle as of late. The Spurs have won seven straight meetings, as the Sonics last win in this series came on November 24, 2002 at San Antonio.
The Spurs have won four straight and six of their last nine at Seattle.
On Friday, All-Star Tim Duncan had 26 points and 16 rebounds to lead San Antonio past the Los Angeles Lakers, 105-96,at the Staples Center. Manu Ginobili added 18 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals for the Spurs, while starting point guard Tony Parker finished with 16 points, five rebounds and six assists in the win over the Lakers.
San Antonio's Brent Barry, who left Seattle and signed with the Spurs as a free agent in the offseason, meets his former team for the first time. Barry had spent five seasons with the SuperSonics.
After tonight's contest, the Spurs return home for a two-game stand. San Antonio will host the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday and the Miami Heat on Friday.
The Sonics come into tonight's game off a win. Allen shot 10-of-16 for 25 points, leading Seattle to a 106-85 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday in their home opener at KeyArena.
Rashard Lewis posted 23 points and Antonio Daniels added 12 to help Seattle to its seventh straight home-opening win. Reggie Evans collected 11 points and nine rebounds. Lewis also had half of his team's 10 blocks for a new career high.
A driving lay-in by Lewis kicked off a 14-2 run over the last four-plus minutes of the third period that turned a three-point advantage into a comfortable 79-62 margin over the Hawks. Allen finished the quarter with a layup at the buzzer to make it 79-64, but Vladimir Radmanovic continued the rally with a three to open the fourth. Atlanta couldn't get back into it, as they were outscored 24-21 from that point on en route to the loss.
Seattle visits the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday before playing three straight in front of their home crowd.
