Does anybody have one? I went to Best Buy to get a video Ipod and the lady also recommended the Microsoft Zune, it had a bigger screen and FM radio and you could use any music program to get songs from, not just Itunes. I came home to look it up/find out more about it. So does anyone have one or know anything about it?

i use all sorts of programs to get music for my iPod, it hasn't been a problem. my main issues with the zune are how bulky it is, the WiFi that is crippled and basically useless, as well as FM radio being of zero consequence. if they redesigned it to be slimmer it would be an attractive option.

I saw a review of the Zune that said it might be a better deal if you were more interested in playing movies, but that it didn't compete when it came to seamless management of music.

TOP REASON TO BUY YOU A ZUNE!!!
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,237899,00.html

When Derrick Woods and Chanell Martin decided to surprise their 12-year-old daughter with a Microsoft Zune media player, they had no idea how big of a surprise they were in for. The gadget, they said, came preloaded with more than an hour of raunchy pornography.

"It was a homosexual orgy that they had video taped for an hour and 44 minutes," Martin told FOX News affiliate WFLD reporter Michelle Gielan.

The couple said the Zune package appeared to have been tampered with and the charger was missing. But when they went to complain at the Chicago-area Wal-Mart where they purchased the player, they say the store manager blamed the situation on Microsoft.

• Click here to see the report from FOX News Chicago.

"I'm just totally appalled by the whole situation," Woods said.

A spokesperson for Wal-Mart said it is investigating the incident and will give Woods and Martin a full refund for the Zune and a $25 gift card. But Martin said that the damage has already been done.

"What do you tell a 12-year-old child that you have five men having sex with each other? That's not a conversation that I want to have," Martin said.

FOX News affiliate WFLD contributed to this report.

You were either lied to, or the salesperson had no idea what she was talking about. Neither would surprise me at Best Buy.

Zune will not play DRM-protected music (ie, music you have to pay for) from any source other than the Zune Store. No iTunes purchases. No Rhapsody. No Napster. No Yahoo Music. Not even MSN Music purchases.

Zune will play any kind of unprotected music file, such as mp3s you download from any p2p program (like limewire, ares, soulseek, etc), but then iPod will too, as well as every other mp3 player ever made.

Zune is big. It's quite a bit thicker than my 80GB video iPod, which is a bit thicker than the 30GB video iPod. Zune has a bigger screen, so it's better if you plan on watching a lot of video on it I guess.

For video, they both only use their proprietary codecs. Zune forces you to use WMV formats for your videos. iPod forces you to use Quicktime formats.

Zune's wireless features are worthless. You can't browse the internet with it like you can on a PSP. You can't share music with it, because any file you download from another Zune (the only thing you can download from) is erased within 3 days or 3 plays, whichever comes first. That file can also never be downloaded to your Zune again from the person you got it from. Also, Microsoft has made it so that you can't use the Zune as a portable hard drive in Windows, like you easily can with an iPod.

The Zune's not doing too well right now, because it's a shittier iPod with an FM tuner and a lot more bulk, for the same price.

I imagine the second-generation Zune will be a much better product. I wouldn't become an early adopter with the first-generation one though.

That if his daughter ever finds herself in the middle of that group in an effort to buy food or pay for housing, she's failed at life.

I have a 30 gb Zune as well as a 80 gb ipod video. I've had the ipod video for almost 8 months and I got the Zune about three weeks ago. I have to honestly say the Zune is better. The only downside in my opinion is the copyright Apple owns on the wheel, it makes searching for music on the ipod smooth, however, searching on the Zune is easy as well. I also like Zune's Marketplace better than itunes.

Are you always full of crap when you post something here? The 80GB video iPod didn't even come out until mid-to-late September, which means you've allegedly had it for 3 1/2 months, tops.

The Zune is laying an egg. Almost no market penetration after the first couple of weeks. Normally, that would mean product termination, but Microsoft is rich enough to carry revenants and money losers like XBox and Zune almost indefinitely.

It's the 60 gb.

My mistake.

Funny thing is, I had 60 gb posted but I editted it because I thought it was 80 gb.

Microsoft makes their money off the games not the console. Even Sony losses money with the PS. It's the games that make it what it is.

buddy, I think you have a problem:

why does your ipod say "do not disconnect" even though it's not plugged in to anything?

He probably had it connected and disconnected it for the picture right before?

That is correct.

And he may not have disconnected it correctly, or maybe his iPod was just being a little bitch, they do that sometimes...

Microsoft loses on every console, Sony doesn't, and never has. The FTC hasn't allowed any Japanese company to "dump" products at a loss since the J steel companies were doing it in the 70s.

Nope, Sony sells at a loss and Microsoft will actually make a profit on each XBox 360 sold.
