Perhaps, like Kevin Garnett, Timmy's on-court fretfulness is just an indication that he wants to be traded. Immediately.

Tim sucks.

I'm so fucking tired of his loser/martyred/whiner/entitlement attitude,
his total lack of leadership,
total lack of toughness and adjustments.

His schtick now is to hang his head, bite his lip, when he thinks he is victim of a no call.

For fucking $1M/month, hustle your butt and play ball.

Nobody's gonna hand you any fucking thing because you think you're the best player in the NBA. If you want it, you gotta go take it.

timmy is my favorite current player...been a fan since his wake forestdays. i have never, ever, seen this guy play so soft and whine so much. i mean he whined last year but this year it's out of control. and when he gets no calls, he plays like a freaking puss...hangs his head, gets back slow on d. someone needs to slap him and tell him that he's getting no calls this year and he needs to figure out how to play like an MVP again.

the trouble is that the spurs are not hungry anymore. They do not feel the insatiable hunger for a championship. It's as though they expect a championship to be handed to them. This is what happens when you have a roster full of content veterans.

I don't think he needs to be vocal.

If he would just do as the petition says and shut up and concentrate on playing harder that would be enough.

I notice you agreed with Tim being mentally weak.

I think Tim does need to be more vocal. Yes you can often lead by example but not all the time. The few times I've seen Duncan really bitch out his teammates, they've responded really well. The problem is, the Spurs don't have a guy who will kick some ass and rally the troops when they're playing poorly. The Spurs usually need Pop to go Serbian on them before they get it together and frankly, it sucks.

What kind of message does Tim send to his teammates when he hangs his head and/or whines when the chips are down? Unacceptable.

Pop is the only person in the organization who can call out Tim. There is no Avery Johnson type player on this team that demands respect from the other players on the team. Finley and Horry are the closest things to that, but they haven't played well enough to say anything.

The thing is though that Pop did go off on Duncan after the Bucks game and even called him out in the media. There is only so much Pop can do to Tim. There comes a time where Duncan just has to forget about the refs and just play basketball.

He made his name in the league being the silent assassian. Now he's worse than any player in the league as far as whining goes. I wouldn't mind if he argued for a call here or there, but not every other time up the court.

It's gotten to the point that the refs don't even listen to him anymore. He's just hurting himself and the team by acting like a whiner out there.

I notice you agreed with Tim being mentally weak.I would say more like inconsistent. In fact, his first few years in the league he was anything but weak.

Your second paragraph addresses the issue precisely. If he would just stop doing that, 95% of the problem would be solved.

A fuckin MEN! I was thinking about this during the game today. I loved the fact that back in the day, night in night out, Tim could care less about anything but winning. Now it seems like every game he's usually staring down the refs for some calls. Come on son lets take it back to the fundamentals baby. :fro

at what point to we start to criticize pop as well? pop will often have an outburst of his own when tim doesnt get the call, i think pop is the one who needs to call tim out and give him the cold shoulder when he gets phis pms, make it clear to him that NO ONE respects that, on the contrary, it makes the refs lose respect for him

i agree pop needs to tell tim to stop playing like a puss and man up. i don't even know why pop went ballistic over that call when it clearly wasn't a foul. tim went up weak got his shot shoved down his throat and wanted a bail out call...like he has all season.

play through the shit...get creative. if i see him bring the ball down low in traffic again, i'll scream.

This is the stupidest thread I have read yet! Timmy D is the polar opposite of the majority of the NBA and I like it! I like a talented player with class and sportsmanship versus the majority of gangsta wannabe hip hop thugs such as R. Wallace, A.I, LABRON!!! The Spurs would not be where they are today WITHOUT Tim Duncan and they sure as hell would not have 3 championships under their belt without him. Yup...Spurs have no trophies with the likes of Robinson, Gervin, etc....I respect the hell outta them, but reality hits!

By the way...hell no I won't sign....you keep doing what your doing Tim!

wow...you missed the entire point of this thread. this is not about his class or sportsmanship. this is about him whining on every play on the offensive when he doesn't get a foul called on the defender when he makes a move.

tim needs to do what he used to do which is STFU and kill you with offensive arsenal. let your play do the talking rather than whine we you go up weak.

Hmmm...re-read...but I honestly have to say I don't see it (whining)...not as much as the usual suspects. Kobe, Lebron, etc. I find nothing wrong in what Tim is doing....I did misunderstand a little on this thread...BUT I still stand by my assessment...I still say get off his back because IMO, he's still by far the leader of this team.

Kobe, Lebron, etc. I find nothing wrong in what Tim is doing....I did misunderstand a little on this thread...BUT I still stand by my assessment...I still say get off his back because IMO, he's still by far the leader of this team.

fortunately, i have league pass so i have watched every game the spurs played so far. i have never, ever, in all my years of watching TD play from his freshman year at Wake Forest until now, seen him whine as much as he does now. it's remarkable how he went from the silent assassin who didn't worry about calls to this whiner. and tim is the leader of this team no question and he should be leading by playing solidly and not whining. there are going to be missed calls every game but you can't let the refs take you out of the game and tim is guilty of this over and over again this season. i'm dumbfounded by this transformation and i want my old TD the silent assassin back. this whiny tim is too much for me.

It is strange how he all of sudden changed from just playing through everything and not complaining to whining all the time. From what I say, it started last season but most Spurs fans wouldn't really admit it back then cuz they didn't want to believe it. Most stars bitch & whine but I always really respected Duncan for not being that way. I guess he feels it's necessary now since he see's all the other stars doing it.

This thread is embarrassing.. I didnt see the game, but judging by the highlights, it looks like Tim just stopped playing after thinking the refs missed a call, while the cavs are off and running on a fastbreak.

I'll hold my breath until the Spring.
So I'm not quite ready to push the panic button.

We still have SPAM.
If this was happening in late March and April... Then I would start worrying.
For now I'll watch all the good football games on TV.

I respect that...but the game has changed ALOT in just the time Timmy D has been in the league. You HAVE to change with the times in anything you do. As long as Tim is still playing like a leader and giving us his all and producing, which he is, then let him do what he feels is right or necessary. He IS still producing and STILL one of the BEST in the league...but come on...he's not 24/25 years old anymore. He STILL doesn't whine, bitch, or complain a fraction of the time like Kobe, Sheed, Melo, AI, LeBron, etc.

We need to support Tim and the Team!

Timmy had a similar 2nd half against the Wiz in DC a year or two ago, where he was getting hacked by Washington with no calls. In fact, I think Ken Mauer was there swallowing his whistle for that one also. Any way, Timmy whined about it too much and totally stopped executing and he missed a bunch of inside shots.

Absolutely!!!!!!I am sick to DEATH of Tim's whining. It might be one thing if he was playing up to his potential....if he played even MOST nights like he played last Sunday it would be one thing. But he doesn't, and he hasn't in a very, very, very long while. He doesn't try to finish most of his shots at the rim,...he just waits to see if the refs will give him a foul call. Then if they don't, the MAN ACTUALLY POUTS!!!! he is a grown man but he POUTS!!!

Then, when the refs do give him a foul call, he only makes 6 out of ten.. If he had any fire left in his belly, or any heart, he would try to make sure that he AT LEAST got the basket, and then if he missed the free throws it wouldn't be the equivalent of a turnover, which it is when he gives up on the shot, fails to make his free throws, and then takes ten second to bothr to get himself down the court on defense. He has the talent, the brawn, and the ardor of an adoring coach...but he lets all of us down when he plays like he has been.

Pop, of course, just gets himself kicked out of games to try to inspire him. Tim makes a gazillion bucks a year. If he is so unprofessional that his own drive doesn't inspire him, it would seem like he could at least look like he is trying to reflect the value of his salary...EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!!!!

you will never, ever, see me give up on tim. he's in my top 3 favorite players of all time. but i will not approve of his behavior now. he's not playing like a leader and as a result, the team is playing very passive right now.

as for his whining this year, TD is on par with all the players you mentioned. it has gotten that bad. wait til you see him play against the mavs on thursday if you don't see game vs. the wolves tonight.

Sign me up.

It's been bad this year, but I knew when Nies stepped onto the court that we were going to lose. Duncan gave it up before he even started.

I had the same reaction, and mentioned it to my wife. Tim and Pop have to know this, though. Whenever Nies is officiating Tim has a bad night, and whenever Violet is officiating, Tim has a greatt night. I can't believe how Tim gives up so much mental power to officials who just love reminding guys like Tim that they have a great deal of say about how their game is going to go. Tim doesn't whine when Violet gives him twenty foul calls against the other team whenever he is playing, and he should accept it when Nies does the reverse.

I am also signing for my wife! We love Timmy, but for god sake earn it! Play hard every minute you are on the floor and stop crying at every non call, instead play harder on the next play (after a non call)! This team and this city look up to you, time to step up and be a true leader.

I think DRob needs to take him in hand. You didn't see him doing anything like this, and Tim has always respected him. I'd vote for the Admiral calling him up for a Little Chat.

Yes he does.
count me out. the guy got 2 below his average scoring and folks act like he's tanking or something. who gives a flip if he whines every other call? we all agree that the top players in the league do as much if not more whining. the top team in the league right now is dallas and everyone thinks dirk whines. obviously, it means jack. hell, folks were all over him when he first came into the league about not arguing his case more. what's more, the guy is a machine, and checking his rebounds this game should silence everyone. he gets his work done, let him do it however he needs to do it.

Further proof that Shaq > Timmy

:)

sad to say but hell yes. And way more dominant in his prime, amongst better comp.

TD's got no more motivation. He won everything, but that is no reason to play like a pussy. I believe he will start playing like he should. So, GO TIMMY GO!

That hasn't stopped Shaq. He's making his comeback as we speak, in fact.

So do you guys think the refs are trying to send Tim the stop whining message too? If so this would appear consistent enough.

I sign this

He seems like he could be averaging 30pts a game, but half the time he doesn't give a damn

but when he WANTS to score he goes on to score 12pts in 6min

So, why is Tim playing as he plays right now? Lack of motivation?
Pop and Tim have a history of good relationship, is it possible that this relation is broken? Has Pop pushed Tim over the edge with his "no so briliant" coaching?

Maybe is time to fire Pop.
