The Q with the Spurs' Bruce Bowen (http://www.cleveland.com/sports/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/sports/1167817316231720.xml&coll=2)

Q: How does this Spurs team compare to the one that won the NBA title in 2003?

A: It's hard to compare because when you're with a team, you're not necessarily saying, "Hey, we have the capabilities to be a great team." It's not that type of situation. You're going along, playing games, winning games, and you just trust one another and keep on going. You never stop to evaluate the team, per se.

Q: What's the best advice you ever got from Mike Brown when he was a Spurs assistant coach?

A: I love Mike dearly. He told me, "If you put in the work, you have to trust that." He was with me a lot of those times when I was putting in that work. Some coaches may say certain things that they may feel you won't grasp hold of. But he was a guy I could always talk to, and I really valued his opinion on things. I knew with our relationship the things he was saying had value.

Q: Describe Danny Ferry as a teammate.

A: He was a guy who was willing to do anything for a win. And I mean anything. Anything that's allowed in a game, he is willing to do it for the victory.

Q: You've become a defensive specialist. Who gives you the most trouble when they're guarding you?

A: It's hard, because I don't have the ball as much as those other guys. Our offensive setup depends on ball movement, so it's not necessarily a person. That's not to discredit anyone. It's just that I'm not featured in this offense like those I guard are. . . . It's people who are very athletic and long. Those kinds of guys create problems. Like Shawn Marion, LeBron, Kobe. Guys who are athletic and long are able to affect your shot. When you think you've gotten past them, the next thing you know, they're still there.

Q: How many college football bowl games did you watch on New Year's Day?

A: I watched two, but it was one-quarter of one (Rose Bowl) and three quarters of another (Fiesta Bowl), so make it one.
